Nghe An strives to be out of the list of key and complicated drug-related areas by 2030.
(Baonghean.vn) - Implementing Resolution No. 14 of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, the Provincial People's Committee strives to achieve the goal of "Reducing supply - Reducing demand - Reducing harm" of drugs by 2025; by 2030, remove Nghe An from the list of key and complicated drug-related areas in the country.
On December 12, 2023, the Provincial Party Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 14-NQ/TU on continuing to strengthen leadership and direction of drug prevention and control work in Nghe An province, aiming to move Nghe An out of the key and complicated drug-related areas.
Pursuant to Resolution No. 14 dated March 29, 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 241 to specify the viewpoints, goals, and key tasks in the resolution to focus on thoroughly grasping, directing the serious, drastic, and effective implementation of drug prevention and control work in the province.

The plan of the Provincial People's Committee assigns specific tasks and assigns responsibilities to leaders, departments, branches, sectors, the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and People's Committees at all levels to further enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of leadership, direction, management and operation of drug prevention and control work in the whole province; maximize the combined strength of the entire political system and the entire people in this work.
The Provincial People's Committee strives to successfully implement the goals set by the Politburo and the Provincial Party Standing Committee on strengthening and improving the effectiveness of drug prevention, control and combat.
In particular, the Provincial People's Committee is determined to strive for the whole province to achieve the goal of "Reducing supply - Reducing demand - Reducing harm" of drugs by 2025 and maintain it in the following years. By 2030, Nghe An will be removed from the list of key and complicated drug-related areas in the country.
To achieve the above goals, the Provincial People's Committee requests local agencies and units to thoroughly disseminate and seriously and drastically implement policies and solutions on drug prevention, control and combat.
In particular, heads of agencies, departments, functional branches, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, and People's Committees at all levels must be responsible for the drug situation in the locality, agency, or unit assigned to them. Taking the effectiveness of drug prevention work in the assigned area as a criterion for annual emulation evaluation and classification.
Every cadre, civil servant and public employee must promote their pioneering and exemplary role in drug prevention and control; strengthen propaganda on drug prevention and control. Sectors, units and localities must synchronously deploy solutions to prevent and control drugs.

Strengthening coordination between the Police, Border Guard, Customs and Coast Guard forces in preventing drug sources from being transported into Vietnam from foreign countries right from the land and sea border areas.
Synchronously implement measures to transform and "clean up" drug-infested areas; eradicate gathering places and locations for illegal use of synthetic drugs, especially in business establishments with security and order conditions (dance halls, bars, karaoke bars, hotels, motels, etc.).
