Nghe An strives to plant 7.9 million new trees in 2021

Mr. Nguyen Van Lien - Vice Chairman of Dien Bich Commune People's Committee said: "Since the beginning of the week, the commune has mobilized more than 100 cadres, including the Farmers' Association, Women's Union, Youth Union members, Veterans' Association... to plant 13,000 mangrove trees on an area of ​​3.2 hectares. The planting area is on the alluvial land that is deposited every year after the tides..."

Planting thousands of trees in the mangrove forest not only strengthens the breakwater, minimizing damage after natural disasters, but also helps regulate the environment and create livelihoods for people in coastal areas. It is known that the number of trees is supported by the Project on Modernizing the Forestry Sector and Strengthening Coastal Resilience in Nghe An Province, part of the Prime Minister's overall Project on Planting 1 Billion Trees in the 2021-2025 period.

Previously,People's Committee of Nghe An provincehas plan No. 337/KH-UBND on implementing the Prime Minister's Project "Planting one billion trees in the period 2021 - 2025" in Nghe An province.

Accordingly, by the end of 2025, the whole province strives to plant at least 54.2 million more trees, including: 42.6 million trees planted in scattered areas in urban and rural areas; 11.6 million trees planted in concentrated areas in protective forests, special-use forests and new production forests to contribute to protecting the ecological environment, improving the landscape and responding to climate change; socio-economic development, improving the quality of people's lives and the sustainable development of the country, for a "green Vietnam".

According to the plan, in 2021, the whole province will plant an additional 7.9 million trees (including 6.5 million scattered trees and 1.4 million concentrated trees corresponding to 857 hectares of forest). It is estimated that by the end of October 2021, the whole province has planted about 6.8 million more trees, reaching 85.71% of the plan. Strive to complete 100% of the plan in the remaining time.

The Prime Minister issued Decision No. 524/QD-TTg dated April 1, 2021 on approving the Project "Planting 1 billion trees in the period of 2021 - 2025". The goal is that by the end of 2025, the whole country will plant 1 billion trees, of which 690 million will be scattered in urban and rural areas, 310 million will be concentrated in protective forests, special-use forests and new production forests, to contribute to protecting the ecological environment, improving the landscape and responding to climate change, developing the socio-economy, improving the quality of people's lives and the sustainable development of the country.
