Nghe An launched a campaign to encourage people to practice swimming and prevent drowning in the delta districts.

On May 24, in Quan Hanh town (Nghi Loc),Department of Culture and SportsCoordinated with Nghi Loc District People's Committee to organize the launching ceremony of the movement "All people practice swimming and prevent drowning in 2023" in the delta region.

Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Department of Culture and Sports, Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, Department of Education and Training, and 10 districts, cities and towns in the delta region of Nghe An province.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, a representative of the Department of Culture and Sports said: Drowning is the leading cause of death for all subjects, ages and especially for children in our country in general and Nghe An province in particular. The cause of death due to drowning is the situation of children not knowing how to swim and lacking knowledge and skills to prevent drowning accidents.

Therefore, launching a movement for the whole population to practice swimming to prevent drowning and equipping them with basic knowledge and skills to prevent drowning is an extremely urgent solution to reduce the drowning situation in our province.

The leaders of the Department of Culture and Sports also requested localities to launch a movement for the entire population to practice swimming and skills to prevent and combat drowning accidents at all types of swimming pools in the area during the summer of 2023 and the following years.

In addition, organize training courses on the Safe Swimming Program, drowning prevention for staff, teachers, and instructors at the grassroots level; guide communes, wards, towns, and schools to coordinate in organizing swimming lessons, disseminating and propagating skills to prevent drowning accidents in children...

At the launching ceremony,Leaders of Nghi Loc District People's Committee representing localities spoke and committed to seriously implementing the plan of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee on launching and organizing widely, effectively and substantially the mass movement to practice swimming to prevent drowning in 2023.

On this occasion, the Department of Culture and Sports presented 30 gifts, including life jackets and swimming protection equipment, to 30 disadvantaged students in Nghi Loc district.
