(Baonghean) -Implementing the Government's direction on rural industry development, Nghe An relies on resources, potentials and strengths of land, minerals, agricultural, forestry and fishery products to shift the province's economic structure towards increasing the proportion of service industry and changing the structure of crops and livestock.
Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development - Mr. Nguyen Tho Canh said: Entering the implementation of the Government's direction on developing agriculture and rural areas, Nghe An has many advantages. First of all, the province's resources such as mineral resources, land, agriculture, forestry and fishery, and a relatively diverse labor force have been planned to serve economic development in general and rural industries in particular. Besides, after the renovation, agriculture and rural areas have made new developments in the number of establishments, production capacity and competitiveness of products. However, the limited management capacity of small and medium-sized enterprise owners and agriculture and rural areas are great difficulties when participating in the market mechanism and international integration. Environmental pollution due to unsynchronized development and outdated technology and equipment are also major challenges for sustainable industry development.
Overcoming these difficulties, thanks to the right decisions and many suitable policies, in recent years, the province has achieved significant achievements in developing industries in large and very important areas such as rural areas. The value of agricultural and rural production has continuously increased, the growth rate has always been high over the years (18.3%), the products have increased in quantity and quality every year, are increasingly diverse in types and have many new products to meet market demand. Some industries and localities have stable and sustainable growth rates and values such as seafood processing in Dien Ngoc, Dien Bich (Dien Chau), Quynh Nghia and Quynh Hung (Quynh Luu) fine art wood, Cua bricks and tiles (Tan Ky), etc. Many products have become famous such as Nghi Phong and Nghi Thai rattan and bamboo weaving, Van Phan fish sauce, etc.
Many traditional crafts have been restored and developed, creating many jobs for rural workers. Up to now, the whole province has restored and developed 384 craft villages, of which 102 craft villages have been recognized by the province, attracting nearly 21,000 workers to participate in the profession. In particular, many traditional crafts such as bamboo and rattan weaving, seafood processing, brocade weaving, shipbuilding, etc. have been restored and strongly developed. Many localities such as Quynh Luu, Yen Thanh, Hung Nguyen, etc. have made very strong progress in restoring and developing craft villages and craft villages in the area.
In particular, up to now, the whole province has formed and developed rural agricultural service industries, production and processing of raw materials for craft villages, forming raw material areas for processing, contributing to changing the structure of rural agricultural economy, helping the face of the countryside become more and more spacious and modern.
Talking about the development direction of rural industries in the coming time, Mr. Canh said: Based on the analysis and assessment of the current situation, potential advantages of industries and development needs, our province will divide them into three groups of industries including: Group with high development advantages (including forestry-agricultural-aquatic product processing, household and handicraft wooden products, rattan and bamboo weaving, stone mining and production, construction materials), group with average development advantages (small mechanical production, textiles, silkworms, etc.) and group with weak development advantages (including sedge, ceramics, glass, embroidery, brocade weaving, etc.). From there, there will be appropriate development orientations for each group of industries./.
