Nghe An: Successfully performed the first two open heart surgeries
(Baonghean.vn) - As part of the program to transfer and implement open heart surgery for Nghe An, Hanoi Heart Hospital and Nghe An General Hospital have just successfully performed the first two open heart surgeries.
The two children who underwent surgery were Tran Thi Phuc (10 years old, in Luu Son commune, Do Luong district) and Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang (9 years old, in Hung Nguyen town). Both of these cases had atrial septal defect and ventricular septal defect, requiring surgery to patch the defect.
After more than 4 hours, with the guidance of technology transfer from doctors at Hanoi Heart Hospital, the surgical team of Nghe An General Hospital successfully performed 2 surgeries. Immediately after the patient regained consciousness, leaders of the Ministry of Health led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Viet Tien and leaders of Nghe An province led by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong and leaders of Nghe An Department of Health came to congratulate the surgical team and visit the 2 children who had just undergone surgery.
