Nghe An province issues directive to respond to typhoon No. 8.
Following the development of Typhoon Toraji, which has entered the eastern part of the North East Sea and become the 8th typhoon of 2024, Nghe An province has issued a directive outlining response measures.
Telegram No. 11/CD-BCH clearly states:
According to the Northern Central Region Meteorological and Hydrological Station, on the evening of November 11th, Typhoon TORAJI entered the eastern part of the North East Sea, becoming the 8th typhoon of 2024. At 4:00 AM on November 12th, the typhoon's center was located at approximately 18.5 degrees North latitude and 118.9 degrees East longitude. The strongest winds near the center of the typhoon reached level 10, with gusts up to level 12. The typhoon was moving northwest at a speed of about 10-15 km/h.

In accordance with Official Dispatch No. 8491 dated November 12, 2024, from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development regarding the response to Typhoon No. 8, and to proactively respond to the typhoon's developments, the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense requests the Steering Committees for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue in coastal districts and towns, and relevant agencies and units:
Closely monitor the storm's development; strictly manage vessels at sea; organize the counting and notification of vessel owners and captains of ships and boats operating at sea regarding the storm's location, direction of movement, and development so that they can proactively take preventive measures, evacuate, avoid moving into dangerous areas, or return to safe shelters. The dangerous zone in the next 24 hours: From latitude 15.5-21.5 degrees North, east of longitude 114 degrees East (the dangerous zone will be adjusted in future forecast bulletins).
At the same time, prepare forces and resources for rescue operations when required.
The provincial Radio and Television Station, Nghe An Newspaper, Ben Thuy Coastal Information Station, and other mass media agencies should strengthen measures to disseminate information about the storm's developments to all levels of government, owners of vessels operating at sea, and the public so that they can proactively take preventive measures and respond promptly and effectively.
Departments and agencies, according to their functions, responsibilities in state management, and assigned tasks, should proactively direct and be prepared to respond to the evolving situation of the storm.
Maintain a strict duty roster and regularly report to the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense.
