Nghe An checks school buses after 6-year-old child dies at Gateway school
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An Department of Transport has issued a document requesting the education sector and localities to review and compile statistics on means of transporting students.
On August 12, the leader of the Nghe An Department of Transport said that the unit had just sent a document to the Department of Education and Training and localities regarding the continued implementation of regulations on transportation business conditions as stipulated in Decree 86 of the Government. This move took place after a 6-year-old boy in Hanoi died after being abandoned in a school bus.
In this document, the Nghe An Department of Transport stated that, according to Decree 86, vehicles transporting internal passengers and passengers under contract must be issued badges by the Department of Transport. However, up to now, many units have not complied seriously. There are still many vehicles operating but not issued badges, especially school buses.

Therefore, the Department of Transport requests the Department of Education and Training to direct schools to review and count the number of vehicles and types of vehicles used by schools to transport students. Clearly state whether the vehicles are managed or rented by the school.
“Urge and direct schools that use school buses to come to the Department of Transport to receive guidance on implementing the conditions for transportation business to be granted a badge,” the document of the Department of Transport stated. In addition, the content of this request was also sent to districts, cities and towns in the area.
The Department of Transport also requested districts, cities and towns to direct local police to strengthen inspections and strictly handle violations of transport business conditions. The results of vehicle statistics must be sent to the Department before September 15.
Earlier, on the morning of August 6, student Le Hoang Long, grade 1 Tokyo, Gateway School (Hanoi), was forgotten on the bus. The school did not contact the family about the student not coming to class. At more than 4 pm, when the child was found motionless on the floor of the bus, the school took him to E Hospital for emergency treatment, at which point the parents learned of the incident. According to the initial investigation results, Long died before being taken to the hospital. Cau Giay District Police initiated a case of "Involuntary manslaughter" on the morning of August 7.
