Nghe An will organize the program 'Vietnam Summer Camp'

On July 6, information from the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) said that the Vietnam Summer Camp 2016 with the theme "Overseas Vietnamese Youth with National Cultural Heritage" will take place from July 10 to July 23, 2016 in the following provinces and cities: Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Quang Tri, Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Da Nang.

The program is attended by about 110 overseas youth delegates from 26 countries and territories, with excellent academic achievements.

The Vietnam Summer Camp 2016 will create conditions for overseas Vietnamese youth to visit and learn about the country's cultural heritage and historical relics. At the same time, through the gratitude and commemoration activities of the Vietnam Summer Camp 2016, overseas Vietnamese youth will be educated in the tradition of patriotism and deep gratitude to the generations of fathers and grandfathers who sacrificed their blood for national independence, national reunification, and protection of territorial sovereignty, thereby enhancing their pride in the country and their homeland and roots.

Specifically, delegates attending the Vietnam Summer Camp 2016 will participate in activities such as: Visiting President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, visiting the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap, offering incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at the Highway 9 Cemetery; visiting the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, the Presidential Palace relic site, Uncle Ho's hometown (Kim Lien historical relic site, Nam Dan, Nghe An), Quang Tri ancient citadel... Delegates will also visit heritage sites and learn about cultural history at: Temple of Literature (Hanoi city), Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh province), Hue Imperial City (Thua Thien - Hue province), My Son Sanctuary and the Monument of Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Thu (Quang Nam province), Linh Ung Pagoda (Da Nang city)...

In addition, delegates will exchange and hold seminars with students of the Diplomatic Academy on the following topics: The role of culture in social life in the context of globalization, preserving and conserving culture in the Vietnamese community abroad, the significance of recognizing Vietnam's tangible and intangible cultural heritages as world cultural heritages, and protecting cultural heritages in Vietnam.

In addition, overseas Vietnamese youth attending the Vietnam Summer Camp 2016 also participated in charity and social activities such as: Visiting and giving gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers in Thua Thien Hue, building a bookshelf for the Center for the Protection of Street Children, planting casuarina trees to improve the marine environment in Da Nang...
