Nghe An will build a high-tech forestry zone.
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An has submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for approval the policy of building a high-tech forestry zone with the following items: Concentrated wood processing industrial zone; Forestry tree seedling center; Wholesale market for wood materials.
On the morning of May 31, under the chairmanship of comrades: Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nghe An province had a working session with the working delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on the policy of building a high-tech forestry zone and the policy of coordinating the organization of a series of events to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Forestry sector; 60 years of the tradition of Vietnam's Forestry.
The working delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is led by Mr. Ha Cong Tuan - Permanent Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Not yet exploited the potential well
Nghe An has the largest natural land area in the country, over 16,500 km2, has 9 mountainous districts with areas located in the Biosphere Reserve recognized by UNESCO in 2007. The total area of forest and planned forestry land of the province is over 1.16 million hectares, accounting for 71.6% of the total natural area.
Currently, the whole province has over 783,699 hectares of land with natural forests, the area without forests is nearly 279,207 hectares. On average, each year the whole province plants 15,000 - 17,000 hectares of forests, exceeding the rate of forest degradation, bringing the total planted forest area to over 173,055 hectares.

In recent years, Nghe An's natural forests have been well managed; industry restructuring has been focused on increasing the added value of processed wood products; developing cooperative and linked economies along the product value chain in forestry.
Along with the system of processing and trading enterprises, Nghe An has synchronously implemented the planning for the development of forest plantation raw material areas, attracting the construction of a number of large-scale wood product processing factories such as: MDF boards, finger jointed boards, activated carbon, bio-pellets... In 2018, the export turnover of wood products and non-timber forest products reached 221 million USD.

However, according to general assessment, Nghe An has not yet fully exploited its potential advantages in terms of land resources, forest resources and the province's strategic location to sustainably develop the wood processing industry and non-timber forest products.
Construction of high-tech forestry zone
In order to contribute to rapid and sustainable development, Nghe An has submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development a proposal to build a high-tech forestry zone and has been approved. The proposed investment items include: Concentrated wood processing industrial zone; Forestry seedling center; Wholesale market for wood materials.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ha Cong Tuan - Permanent Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development stated: Nghe An needs to clearly identify key products in the construction of high-tech wood processing industry, in order to have solutions to develop specific raw material sources. Implement socialization when building forestry zones, build specific mechanisms to attract businesses, the State ensures land and infrastructure. Divide the construction roadmap of forestry zones into separate areas, when 70% of the area of this area is filled, then construction will be carried out in other clusters.

On the province side, we will make every effort to implement the project as planned. Nghe An will direct specialized agencies to review the project based on comments from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; and develop appropriate policies and mechanisms to attract businesses to invest.

Provincial leaders also expressed their joy when Nghe An was chosen by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as the venue for a series of events celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Forestry sector; 60th anniversary of Vietnam Forestry Traditional Day, affirming that Nghe An will coordinate and prepare the best conditions for this activity to be a great success.
