Nghe An aims to build 22 new cold storages to preserve seafood with a capacity of 240 tons of products/year from now until 2015, including 10 warehouses in Quynh Luu district, 5 warehouses in Dien Chau district, 5 warehouses in Cua Lo town and 2 warehouses in Nghi Loc district.

To achieve the above goal, Nghe An province proposed that the fisheries sector and coastal localities plan locations for cold storage construction at fishing ports, fishing wharves, fish markets or concentrated fisheries areas. This is aimed at facilitating the purchase and preservation of aquatic products after catching and facilitating the supply of aquatic products to seafood processing facilities when they come to Nghe An to purchase products.

To facilitate the construction of seafood cold storage facilities, in addition to planning specific construction locations, Nghe An province also builds a mechanism to encourage organizations and individuals inside and outside the province to participate in the construction of seafood cold storage facilities, along with the construction of concentrated seafood purchasing and processing areas; invest in the construction and completion of fishing ports and wharves, and encourage not only fishing boats in the province but also fishing boats from outside the province to dock at the port to consume seafood after catching.

Thanks to the policy of encouraging the development of aquaculture, many enterprises in Nghe An have built seafood cold storage facilities. Nghi Tan ward, Cua Lo town alone, currently has 41 cold storage facilities, providing jobs for over 450 workers. Thanks to these cold storage facilities, the seafood resources of fishermen in Cua Lo town and neighboring districts are purchased promptly, and fishermen do not have to worry about their seafood being damaged after catching./.
