Nghe An: Economic growth ranks second in the North Central region

On the afternoon of June 30, in Vinh city, the General Statistics Office held a press conference to announce socio-economic statistics for the first 6 months of 2022 in Nghe An province. Comrade Phan Truong Son - Director of the Provincial General Statistics Office chaired the press conference. Attending the press conference were leaders and experts of a number of relevant units under the General Statistics Office, representatives of a number of departments and branches, along with the participation of media and press agencies.

The economy is growing well.
At the Press Conference, the Director of the General Statistics Office announced the basic issues on the socio-economic situation of the province in the first 6 months of 2022. Accordingly, the economic growth in the first 6 months of 2022 of Nghe An province reached 8.44% (the first quarter increased by 6.44%; the second quarter increased by 10.09%), the second highest growth rate.North Central region(after Thanh Hoa) and 18th in the country.
The Covid-19 epidemic has been basically controlled, production and business activities have returned to normal as before the Covid-19 epidemic appeared. The economic picture in the province continues to improve in many fields. Many industries have had higher growth rates than before the Covid-19 epidemic appeared such as: processing and manufacturing industry; construction, trade, etc.

In the general growth rate of the whole province, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 4.14%, contributing 12.27% to the growth rate of total added value; the industry and construction sector increased by 11.65%, contributing 39.75%; the service sector increased by 9.22%, contributing 44.64%.
The growth rate of the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector in the first 6 months of 2022 was higher than the same period in 2021.Industrial and construction areas, the industrial sector in the first 6 months of 2022 increased by 12.67% over the previous year, contributing 1.97 percentage points to the growth rate of the total added value of the whole province.
Trade and service activities continued to grow well, reaching 9.22% in the first 6 months of 2022, much higher than the growth rate of 5.47% in the same period in the first 6 months of 2021.

Regarding the economic structure in the first 6 months of 2022, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector accounts for 26.45%; the industry and construction sector accounts for 27.46%; the service sector accounts for 40.89%; product taxes minus product subsidies account for 5.2%.
State budget revenue in the area in the first 6 months of 2022 is estimated at 10,101 billion VND, reaching 67.35% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council and equal to 100.58% over the same period in 2021.

The consumer price index in June 2022 increased by 0.86% over the previous month, and by 2.63% over the same period last year. Of which: Transportation increased by 3.26%; food and catering services increased by 1.13%; beverages and tobacco increased by 0.75%; other goods and services increased by 0.25%;... On average, in the second quarter of 2022, the consumer price index increased by 2.22% over the second quarter of 2021, with the strongest increase being in the transportation group, up 13.04%; housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials, up 6.45%; beverages and tobacco increased by 3.47%; culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 1.36%; clothing, hats and footwear increased by 1.07%; other goods and services increased by 0.94%;...
The gold price index decreased by 0.96% compared to the previous month and increased by 2.41% compared to June 2021. The US dollar index increased by 0.03% compared to the previous month and increased by 0.22% compared to June 2021.

At the press conference, the General Statistics Office and representatives of departments and branches spent time answering journalists' questions regarding issues related to the socio-economic situation in areas such as: additional information on provincial rankings in the North Central region, the situation of job creation for workers returning home due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the situation of business development, consumer price index, inflation, etc.
According to the Director of the General Statistics Office Phan Truong Son, it is forecasted that in the last 6 months of 2022, the domestic and international situation will still face many difficulties and challenges, so it is necessary to focus and make efforts to implement key tasks and solutions. That is: Continue to focus highly on the work of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic in the new situation; flexibly and effectively implement the goals of both preventing and fighting the epidemic and recovering,socio-economic development.
