Before the new school year, many localities are interested in preparing plans to arrange enough places for these students.

Welcoming hundreds of students returning from epidemic areas

Images of children returning to their hometowns with their parents during thebus tripCross-country travel is a haunting choice for many people. This is the choice of many families as the Covid-19 epidemic increases in the southern provinces. In Dien Tan commune (Dien Chau), in recent days, a large number of workers from the South have returned. Among these, many families bring their children or send their children to their grandparents to avoid the epidemic.

Mr. Dau Thien Tinh's family in Hamlet 3, Dien Tan Commune (Dien Chau) has a daughter working in Dong Nai Province. When the epidemic broke out, because of concerns about the difficulty of traveling back and forth, he and his wife encouraged their daughter to stay in the South to ensure safety. As for Truc Linh - his granddaughter, she was lucky to be sent back since the beginning of summer, so for more than 2 months now she has been living with her grandparents. At this time, it is not known when the epidemic will be controlled, so the family has also determined that she will stay in the countryside and will first enroll in a school near home. However, the biggest worry now is that Linh has not been popularized according to regulations and her parents have not sent her school documents.

Sharing his concerns, Mr. Dau Thien Tinh said: "My child will be entering first grade this school year, so I am worried that the procedures will be more difficult and my biggest wish now is for my child to be admitted to school on time so that he can keep up with his friends."

In Dien Tan commune, according to statistics from schools in the commune, there are about 10 students who are children of workers returning from the southern provinces. Meanwhile, the number in the whole district is more than 100 students. To prepare for the new school year, schools have developed plans to arrange enough places for students.

“At present, our school has counted 6 primary school-age students who have just returned to the commune and there may be more in the coming days. At this time, the school has basically completed enrollment for the beginning of the school year, but if there are more students, we will still try to arrange for them to go to school according to regulations and according to the school year plan if they have completed the quarantine. For the remaining cases, after completing the required quarantine period, the school will continue to arrange and have a plan for tutoring for the students.”

Create the most favorable conditions for students to return to school

Over the past month, tens of thousands of workers from Nghe An have returned from the epidemic area and it is expected that in the coming school year, the number of students in many localities will also increase because many students will return with their parents. In Yen Thanh district, according to initial statistics, nearly 200 students have returned, most of them are preschool and primary school students. It is expected that the number of students will increase in the next few weeks because many localities continue to report workers returning.

To ensure the rights of students as the new school year approaches, Mr. Tran Xuan Tinh - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Yen Thanh district said: We are directing schools to continue to review the number of students expected to return to the area to have a plan to receive them to study according to the wishes of the families. If there are any cases where documents are not sufficient, we will be flexible, because the first priority now is still not to let any student drop out of school.

Tuong Duong district has also asked schools to make statistics and up to this point, there have been 45 students, mainly Mong children from communes near the border, returning, concentrated mainly in communes such as Tam Hop, Nhon Mai, and Mai Son.

Mr. Kha Van Lap - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Tuong Duong district said: Receiving more students from the southern provinces does not affect the teaching plan of the schools much, because the mountainous districts have a characteristic of small class sizes. We have also instructed the schools to re-evaluate the students' abilities as soon as the new school year begins. If any student is weak or cannot keep up with the program, they will be tutored and trained further.

Faced with the reality that more and more students are returning from epidemic areas, the Nghe An Department of Education has also developed appropriate plans, including for students who have not yet had time to complete the required admission documents. In the immediate future, through discussion, Mr. Thai Van Thanh - Director of the Department of Education and Training said: According to current statistics, there are two groups of students returning from epidemic areas. The first is students who only study temporarily during the time of avoiding the epidemic and the second is students who will stay to study long-term. Regardless of the group, the Department also directs schools to prioritize admission according to the school year plan for students and create all favorable conditions to ensure their right to study.

“In the context of the complicated developments of the epidemic, the Department of Education and Training will also be more flexible in the process of receiving students and may enroll students online if their parents live far away and the students are still temporarily quarantined according to regulations.

In addition, the Nghe An Department of Education will be responsible for working with localities where students return such as Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai to transfer student records online or by post, and parents do not have to do it directly. In recent years, Nghe An and many other localities have also applied electronic transcripts, so updating students' learning results and transferring records will also be convenient and done quickly and accurately" - Mr. Thai Van Thanh - Director of the Department of Education and Training.
