Nghe An creates player source from grassroots amateur classes
(Baonghean.vn) - Over the years, the youth teams of Song Lam Nghe An Club have always made their mark in domestic tournaments. This is partly thanks to the contribution of amateur gifted classes at the grassroots level.
Creating a source of young players
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Nghia - Deputy General Director of Song Lam Nghe An Sports Joint Stock Company, implementing the policy of the Provincial People's Committee, the contract with the Department of Culture and Sports, in 2023, from the survey and assessment of the conditions of facilities, traditions, strengths and quality of coaches of each locality, Song Lam Nghe An Sports Joint Stock Company has opened 25 amateur talent classes in 17 districts, cities and towns, with a total of 500 athletes.

In which, Vinh city has 4 classes; Yen Thanh district has 3 classes; districts and towns: Quy Hop, Quynh Luu, Thai Hoa town each district has 2 classes; Hoang Mai town, Cua Lo town, Dien Chau, Do Luong, Tuong Duong, Quy Chau, Tan Ky, Anh Son, Nam Dan, Hung Nguyen, Nghi Loc, Thanh Chuong districts each district has 1 class.
Participating in amateur football classes, athletes aged 8-11 can both learn local culture and participate in football training, thereby being taught basic football techniques and initially forming tactical thinking in the way of playing football.
After 1 year of training, the children will participate in the amateur football tournament organized by the Department of Culture and Sports and Song Lam Nghe An Sports Joint Stock Company to evaluate the training quality of amateur gifted classes in the whole province, and at the same time discover and select excellent talented athletes to add to the youth teams of Song Lam Nghe An Club. In addition, the children will also participate in the Nghe An Newspaper Cup Youth - Children Football Tournament held every June.
Mr. Ha Huy Nham - Director of the Center for Culture - Information and Communication of Quy Hop district said: "In Quy Hop district, there are 2 amateur football talent classes organized by Song Lam Nghe An Club, which have promoted the mass sports movement in the area to develop more and more widely, the need for training and physical training of the people is increasingly improved and enhanced, including football. With the enthusiastic passion of the people and parents, these talent classes have attracted many children to participate in training, the number and quality of athletes each year is higher than the previous year".

Through the system of grassroots amateur talent classes, each year Song Lam Nghe An Sports Joint Stock Company has selected 40 - 50 players for the youth teams. In 2023, out of 66 athletes selected for the youth training classes of Song Lam Nghe An Club, 40 athletes were selected from 14/25 grassroots talent classes, of which the most typical are the training classes at Song Lam Nghe An Club and Thanh Chuong, Quy Hop, Dien Chau, Yen Thanh districts, and Hoang Mai town.
We can mention the typical faces discovered and selected from the amateur talent classes, from famous players such as Que Ngoc Hai, Tran Nguyen Manh, Phan Van Duc, Pham Xuan Manh... to outstanding players in recent national youth tournaments such as: Tran Hai Dang, Tran Dong Thuc, Nguyen Trong Tuan, Pham Quoc Trung, Nguyen Ngoc Trung...
Overcoming difficulties and problems
InConference to summarize the system of basic amateur classesIn the 2023 and 2024 task deployment meeting that was just held, representatives of the Song Lam Nghe An Club and amateur gifted classes all said that one favorable thing is that amateur gifted classes have received support from Party committees, authorities, cultural, sports and media centers, schools in the whole province as well as parents.
However, some shortcomings and limitations in the activities of grassroots amateur football classes have also been pointed out, such as: The coordination between the Song Lam Nghe An Youth Football Training Center and the Department of Culture - Information; the Center for Culture, Sports and Communication, and schools in the province is not synchronized and smooth.
Most amateur football coaches have many tasks, so the time spent on training and finding athletes is limited, affecting the quality. In order to focus 100% of their time on training, the treatment for coaches at the facilities is still low, not ensuring the needs of life. In addition, the salary and training tools are not provided on time, affecting the working mentality of the coaches.

Representatives of the leaders of the Cultural Centers of Do Luong, Quy Hop districts and Hoang Mai town also said that these localities have many spontaneous amateur football classes, leading to the inevitable omission of talented people.
Also because of these difficulties and limitations, the quality of athlete training in gifted classes is uneven. For example, in 2023, up to 11/25 classes could not provide any athletes for the Song Lam Nghe An Youth Football Training Center, including localities with a tradition of youth football movements such as Vinh city, Tan Ky, Quynh Luu, Nam Dan...
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Nghia - Deputy General Director of Song Lam Nghe An Sports Joint Stock Company affirmed: "In order for Song Lam Nghe An Club to have a source of quality young players, it is necessary to do a good job of selecting from the grassroots level, therefore, it is necessary to maintain and continue to develop amateur talent classes".
Mr. Nghia also said that in the coming time, to improve the effectiveness of amateur football talent classes at the grassroots level in 2024, Song Lam Nghe An Youth Football Training Center will coordinate with localities to promote propaganda work on mass media in different areas to attract talented football players to participate in training, improve mobilization work, and convince the masses to understand the true nature of football training to create favorable conditions for the selection and calling of athletes for training.
In addition, the scale of organizing amateur football tournaments should be expanded, from expanding the number of participants such as athletes from community football classes, students from some primary schools, etc. to improve the efficiency and quality of selected athletes; strengthen the inspection, supervision and evaluation of the performance of grassroots amateur gifted classes, etc.
