(Baonghean.vn) - Immediately after the storm passed, localities and the Nghe An Transport Department mobilized all resources, together with the people, to fix landslides and damaged traffic points, ensuring road clearance.

At Veu 3 village of Phuc Son commune, Anh Son district, from the morning of October 31, the district People's Committee directed Phuc Son commune to mobilize excavators and local human resources to level and clear over 200 m3 of landslide soil and rock, ensuring road clearance.

Mr. Hoang Quyen - Chairman of People's CommitteeAnh Son districtsaid: Anh Son district has landslides damaging dozens of roads, including 4 large landslides in Cao Son, Phuc Son, Cam Son, and Khai Son communes.

The district has mobilized all forces including soldiers, police, mass organizations, machinery and vehicles, and local people. Since October 31, thousands of cubic meters of landslides have been cleared. Currently, the above routes have been cleared. The district is directing communes to focus on repairing damage to rural traffic routes.

For Ky Son district, there are more than 20 affected points.landslide, causing traffic jams, since October 31, the district has focused on mobilizing local forces to clear fallen rocks on the road to Bao Nam and Tay Son communes. Some points where machines could not enter had to use human power to level and fill in broken sections of the road to soon clear the road to the communes and villages.

The impact of storm No. 9 caused localized flooding in households in Nghi Loc, causing severe damage to crops, livestock as well as traffic and irrigation works that were flooded, isolated, and severely eroded. There was heavy to very heavy rain in the district, with the total rainfall measured from the morning of October 29, 2020 to 1:00 p.m. on October 30, 2020 being nearly 400 mm. Flooded residential areas had to evacuate people with nearly 1,500 households concentrated in the communes of Nghi My (120 households), Nghi Thuan (300 households); Nghi Cong Bac (450 households), Nghi Cong Nam (150 households); Nghi Phuong (250 households) ...

Floods also damaged many irrigation and traffic infrastructure works such as the 4.0km coastal defense road from Nghi Yen to Nghi Tien; landslides and serious damage to a number of inter-commune, inter-village and inter-hamlet roads 20km long in Nghi Van, Nghi Lam, Nghi Kieu, Nghi Hung, Nghi Dong, Nghi Yen communes...; nearly 15km of canals in Nghi Van, Nghi Kieu, Nghi Hung, Nghi Dong, Nghi Thuan communes...; the 0.4km long sea dike in Rong hamlet, Nghi Thiet commune was seriously eroded; the dam body of Nghi Cong Bac commune was sunk...

According to the report of the Department of Transport, on the morning of October 31, the Transport sector coordinated with localities to mobilize machinery to level and clear 9 locations of heavy traffic landslides, including QL 16 Ky Son - Que Phong with 4 locations, QL 15 A with 2 locations, QL 46B with 1 location in Ru Nguoc, Thanh Chuong district... At this time, traffic management units are actively overcoming landslides on provincial roads, including Provincial Road 543 B with 2 landslides, Provincial Road 534 with 4 landslides, Provincial Road 534 C with 2 landslides...

Heavy rains for many days have caused mountainous areas in remote districts such as Ky Son, Con Cuong, Que Phong, Quy Chau, etc. to be soaked with water and prone to landslides. Therefore, vehicles must be extremely vigilant. For areas at risk of landslides, functional agencies and local authorities have placed warning signs, assigned people to guard 24/7, and prevented vehicles from traveling to ensure safety of life.

According to the report of the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue,floodlasting from October 15 to 20, 2020 in Nghe An caused heavy damage to people and property.

About productionagriculture, deep flooding has damaged 220 hectares of rice, 1,017 hectares of corn and various vegetables, 15 hectares of annual crops, 21 hectares of perennial crops and 5.3 hectares of fruit trees. Regarding livestock, floods have swept away 16 cattle, collapsed 2 barns, causing damage to nearly 160 hectares of aquaculture ponds in the province.

Aboutinfrastructure, 74 houses were damaged, of which 1 house was damaged up to 70%, 11 houses were damaged from 30% - 50%; 17 meters of fence wall collapsed.

In the education sector, 9 schools were affected, 1 classroom was severely damaged, 525 meters of school fence collapsed, and 36 cubic meters of landslides affected the schools.

Abouttraffic, there are 2 points on National Highway 16 with subsidence and road surface: at Km194+940 (Dong Van commune, Que Phong district) and at Km264+700 (Chau Kim commune, Que Phong district) affecting traffic safety. Currently, the management unit has arranged warning signs, arranged 24/24h guard duty and handled smooth embankment and connection to ensure traffic safety.

In addition, the floods also caused 7.7 km of roads to collapse, 4 bridges and 2 culverts to be damaged... Many dams, spillways, intra-field roads and embankments were also damaged and collapsed.


The whole province had 68 broken electric poles, 2 tilted electric poles and 1,200 meters of power lines broken due to the recent natural disaster.

Currently, the Provincial People's Committee has directed People's Committees at all levels and mass organizations to organizevisit, encourage families with accident victims, policy families, families that suffered heavy losses in the recent floods, and allocate the district's reserve fund to support according to regulations.

Local authorities and people focus on overcoming damage to houses, property, environmental sanitation, restoring flooded crop production; repairing schools, and repairing clean water facilities to serve people's daily life.
