Nghe An: Releasing a turtle on the red list into the sea
(Baonghean.vn) - As soon as fishermen discovered that the sea turtle stuck on the rocky outcrop of Dragon Mountain was a rare species, they immediately reported it to the border guards. The turtle was then released safely back into the sea.
On July 14, Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station, Quynh Luu district, released a rare sea turtle, listed in the red list, back into the marine environment.
At around 5am on July 14, while fishermen in Quynh Nghia were fishing for crabs near the shore, they discovered a sea turtle, also known as a hawksbill turtle, belonging to the family Vich, washed ashore by waves and stuck on a rocky outcrop of Dragon Mountain, near Quynh Nghia beach. The turtle weighed 7kg, with a diameter of nearly 30cm.

Identifying this as a very rare animal, listed in the Vietnam Red List and in need of conservation, fishermen in this coastal area immediately called the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station. The unit then sent officers and soldiers to the scene to receive the turtle and safely release it back into the sea.

Recently, thanks to good propaganda and mobilization work among people about sea turtle conservation, in a short time, fishermen in Quynh Luu district coordinated with functional units to release 7 rare turtles back into the natural environment./.
