Nghe An participates in buffalo fighting festival in Hanoi

At the press conference on the afternoon of February 18, Mr. Nguyen Viet Lien, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Tho district, Hanoi city said: This year, for the first time, the buffalo fighting festival was held in Phuc Tho district and this festival will continue to be maintained in the following years.

The buffalo fighting festival in Phuc Tho is organized by the People's Committee of Phuc Tho district in coordination with the Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper at the district's central stadium, taking place on the 23rd and 24th of the first lunar month.

The festival is attended by 32 buffaloes from Phuc Tho district and the provinces of Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Hoa Binh, and Tuyen Quang. The qualifying round takes place on January 23, and the final round takes place on January 24. Phuc Tho is a purely agricultural district with the wet rice civilization of the ancient Doai region. From the mindset of "the buffalo is the head of the career", the locality uses the image of the buffalo to promote culture and agricultural traditions.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Lien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Tho district said: "Today, we are switching from manual production to mechanical production, the buffalo will have other tasks. That is the task of tourism, reviving traditional festivals, making buffalo meat, buffalo fighting and providing entertainment.
