Nghe An: Highlights of October 20th

*SOn the morning of October 20th, during the programVisiting and working in Nghe AnA delegation from the Indian Embassy, ​​led by His Excellency Pranay Verma, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Vietnam, paid a courtesy visit to the provincial leaders.

Working with the delegation from the Indian Embassy, ​​the Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, Thai Thanh Quy, expressed his pleasure in welcoming Mr. Pranay Verma and his wife and the delegation to visit and work with the province. He also provided the delegation with some key information about the province's natural conditions, socio-economic situation, and the relationship and cooperation between the province and Indian partners. Mr. Thai Thanh Quy also requested the Ambassador and the Indian Embassy to help connect with Indian businesses interested in exploring investment opportunities in Nghe An.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Vietnam, Mr. Pranay Verma, expressed his pleasure at visiting Nghe An, the birthplace of President Ho Chi Minh. In the historical process of the two countries, the relationship between the two founding fathers, President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister Nehru, initiated the establishment of relations and laid a solid foundation, creating momentum for the continuous strengthening and expansion of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and India, leading to the establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

*TPrior to that, on the afternoon of October 19th in Hanoi, Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - held a working meeting with AEON MALL Vietnam, Mitsubishi Corporation Vietnam, JICA, and JETRO of Japan to discuss...promote activitiesForeign direct investment (FDI) and official development assistance (ODA) to Nghe An province.

To date, the province has attracted 10 Japanese investment projects with a total capital of 113 million USD in the fields of limestone mining, food, and garment manufacturing. Japan has funded 44 programs and projects in Nghe An, totaling over 5,000 billion VND (equivalent to 217.5 million USD). In the future, JICA and JETRO will continue to support Nghe An province in the agricultural sector, organize training courses, send Japanese experts to work, and organize investment promotion activities in Vietnam and Japan.

Before his sacrifice, Lieutenant Colonel Dung was the Deputy Head of the Operations Department, General Staff of Military Region 4.

“Dũng was extremely devoted to his wife and children, both his and his wife's families, and got along well with his neighbors. Despite his busy work schedule, he always returned home to his family whenever he had time, sharing the difficulties with his wife, as she wasn't in good health. He always showed a sense of responsibility towards his homeland; even during difficult times, while studying in Russia, he saved money to send back to support the construction of welfare projects,” said Mr. Le Van Truong (74 years old), the father-in-law of martyr Dũng, at the ceremony.

According to the Chau Nhan commune authorities (Hung Nguyen), the Lam River's water level has risen nearly 4 meters compared to the time before the hydroelectric dams released floodwaters. *SOn the morning of October 20th, in Hanoi, the 10th session of the National Assembly was held.The 14th National Assembly opens.During this session, the National Assembly will work for 19 days (excluding holidays); the session will be conducted in two phases. Specifically, phase 1 will be held online via video conference from the National Assembly building to the locations of the National Assembly delegations in provinces and centrally-administered cities (from October 20-27).

Phase 2, the plenary session will be held at the National Assembly (from November 2-17). Notable agenda items include discussions and feedback on documents to be submitted to the 13th National Party Congress, and the decision on the election date for National Assembly deputies and People's Council representatives at all levels for the next term.
