Nghe An: Attracting 35 investment projects in agriculture and rural areas

(Baonghean.vn) - Investment attraction in the agricultural and rural sectors in Nghe An has had positive changes with many large-scale, high-tech projects.

According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, from 2011 to now, in the field of agriculture and rural areas, 35 projects with a total investment of 47,422 billion VND have been called for investment; of which in 2016 there were 12 projects with a total investment of 5,571 billion VND, the implemented capital was 1,900 billion VND.

For agriculture, the period 2011-2015 has formed many concentrated raw material areas for processing and export industry such as: tea raw material areas in districts: Thanh Chuong, Anh Son, Con Cuong, high quality Tuyet Shan tea in Ky Son, Tuong Duong; rubber areas in districts: Nghia Dan, Tan Ky, Thai Hoa, Quy Hop, Anh Son, Que Phong, Thanh Chuong.

In the forestry sector, the period 2011-2015 focused on calling for and attracting investment in 6 projects in the field of planting raw material forests and wood processing, with special priority given to investment projects with modern processing technology, linking product chains with high added value such as: Raw material forest planting project of Thanh Thanh Dat Company Limited; Investment project to protect and develop Lung trees; MDF wood processing factory project in Nghe An of May Forestry Joint Stock Company; Joint venture forest planting raw material area project of Tan Viet Trung Artificial Board Joint Stock Company.

In 2016, 4 new forestry projects were attracted, including: Thien Minh Wood Processing Factory in Yen Thanh District; Wood Processing Facility of Thang Loi - Quy Hop Production, Processing and Trading Company Limited; Wood Processing Facility in Cong Hamlet - Quy Hop; Raw material supply area project for the Wood Processing Factory of May Forestry Joint Stock Company.

Regarding aquaculture, 6 projects have been attracted, building 120 cold storages with a total capacity of 18,000 tons per year, including several large-scale projects such as: Nghe An canned fish processing factory of Royal Foods Group; Masan Northern Food Industry Center; Aquaculture incubation investment project of Viet-Uc Group; Cage fish farming project on lakes using Israeli technology. However, in 2016 there were no new investment projects in the aquaculture sector.

Mr. Hoang Nghia Hieu - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that from now until 2020, the agricultural sector will focus on implementing 29 transitional projects and attracting 23 new projects, with a total capital of 35,865 billion VND. We identify that attracting investment in agriculture is very important, contributing to job creation and improving the living standards of local workers, increasing the province's budget revenue. This is also the driving force to promote GDP growth and contribute to shifting the province's economic structure towards industrialization and modernization.
