This is the first time the English survey has been conducted on a province-wide scale for grade 6 and grade 10 students. The survey will be conducted from October 20, 2025.

In order to assess the English proficiency of primary school students in high schools in the province, the Nghe An Department of Education and Training will conduct a survey on primary English proficiency for grade 6 and grade 10 students across the province.

According to the plan, the implementation will be carried out from October 20 to November 5, 2025 in the form of Online Testing on the FSEL platform - a personalized foreign language learning platform using AI. The survey content is standardized according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), closely following the language acquisition capacity of secondary school students with a time limit of 45 - 60 minutes. In this survey, the Department of Education and Training requires 100% of grade 6 and grade 10 students of all secondary and high schools to participate.

According to Mr. Vo Van Mai - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training: The purpose of the large-scale survey is to help the Department assess the English proficiency of primary school students in secondary schools in the province. Thereby, helping schools and teachers grasp the English proficiency of grade 6 and grade 10 students right from the beginning of the school year, as a basis for developing appropriate teaching plans, classifying levels and enhancing educational effectiveness.

This is also the content to deploy the development of the draft Project "Improving the quality of foreign language teaching and learning, gradually making English the second language in schools in Nghe An province, period 2025-2030, orientation to 2045".

This survey also helps 6th and 10th grade students in middle and high schools know their current English ability, thereby improving their learning awareness, proactively setting goals and building a suitable training roadmap right from the beginning of the grade.

The online survey will help connect students and teachers with modern technology, helping students access advanced learning tools and effective learning methods through technology.

In recent years, Nghe An has had many solutions to promote teaching and learning.Englishin school. However, compared to other subjects, the quality of English is still limited and there is a large gap between regions.

Meanwhile, English teaching conditions are not guaranteed, lacking, and inconsistent, with more than 100 schools not having foreign language classrooms. Many classrooms equipped before 2020 are not suitable for the new program.

In addition, there are also shortcomings in the curriculum, learning materials and teaching methods. Testing and assessment do not accurately reflect capacity, are too theoretical, and do not comprehensively assess the four skills.
