(Baonghean) - This morning, December 28, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to summarize the national defense and security tasks in 2011 and deploy the direction and tasks for 2012. Attending were representatives of the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Military Region 4 Command. On the provincial side, there was comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
In 2011, the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee focused on directing the effective implementation of the Central Resolution 8 (9th tenure) on the strategy of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation and national programs on crime prevention, drug prevention and other particularly dangerous crimes. The Public Security, Military and Border Guard forces closely coordinated in performing the tasks of combat readiness, crime prevention, timely handling of reactionary propaganda, illegal border crossing, migration, and proselytizing; cases related to national security, clarifying nearly 800 cases of violation of social order; fighting to eradicate 6 areas, 25 complex drug hotspots, arresting over 700 subjects, 917 drug criminals, seizing over 6,200 grams of heroin; establishing records for sending over 1,200 subjects to drug rehabilitation centers, organizing drug rehabilitation for over 1,000 people in the community.

Comrade Ho Duc Phoc presented the flag of the Provincial People's Committee to the leading collectives of the National Defense and Security movement.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that in the coming time, the armed forces in the area focus on performing well the tasks of combat readiness training, effectively preventing all types of crimes, improving the quality of combat readiness defense zones, investigation work, state management of security and order, focusing on doing well the work of defense zone drills to achieve high results.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Public Security awarded emulation flags to 3 groups; awarded 20 certificates of merit to groups, organizations and individuals. The Provincial People's Committee awarded 5 emulation flags and certificates of merit to 31 groups and 26 individuals who had outstanding achievements in the movement of the whole people protecting national security. The Ministry of National Defense awarded 2 certificates of merit to 2 groups; the Military Region 4 Command awarded 2 emulation flags to 2 groups; 13 determined-to-win units, 4 advanced units; the Provincial People's Committee awarded emulation flags to 4 groups; awarded certificates of merit to 16 groups and 10 individuals for outstanding achievements in performing local military and defense tasks in 2011.
