Nghe An implements the National Forestry Planning for the period 2021-2030
On November 26, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to deploy the National Forestry Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, and a number of mechanisms, policies, and orientations for forestry development in the 2026-2030 period.

Attending on the Central side were Mr. Tran Quang Bao - Director of the Forestry Department; Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien - former Director of the Vietnam Economic Institute. Representatives of the Forestry Department, Forest Protection Department; representatives of departments, offices, institutes, agencies, units and related experts and scientists.
Comrades: Nguyen Van De - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee of the Provincial Sustainable Forestry Development Program for the period 2021-2025; Phung Thanh Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Nguyen Danh Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, co-chaired the conference.

Building sustainable development goals for the forestry sector
Based on the National Forestry Planning dossier for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, and a number of new policies related to the forestry sector that have just been issued by the National Assembly and the Government, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development deploys a number of contents of the National Forestry Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 in Nghe An province and approves a number of new policies related to the forestry sector.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Comrade Phung Thanh Vinh emphasized that the approved national forestry planning has created a legal corridor for localities to develop programs, projects, plans, mechanisms and development policies. This has created a vibrant emulation movement, contributing practically to the successful implementation of forestry development goals in line with the orientation to 2030, with a vision to 2050. In particular, the planning also ensures compliance with the National Land Use Planning targets for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister.

The Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development affirmed that the National Forestry Planning for the period 2021-2030 is a favorable basis for Nghe An to develop the forest economy and the forestry sector in the direction of green economy and circular economy. However, besides the advantages, there are still difficulties, so there need to be solutions, plans and roadmaps for effective implementation.
Decision 895/QD-TTg Approving the National Forestry Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 in accordance with the provisions of the Forestry Law and the Planning Law. Accordingly, the total forestry land area in Nghe An province by 2030 is planned to be 1,148,476 hectares (including: 171,062 hectares of special-use forests, 370,405 hectares of protection forests, 607,009 hectares of production forests).
Exhibitioneffective implementation of new policies
At the conference, comrade Bach Quoc Dung - Head of the Forest Protection Sub-Department approved the contents of the planning implementation of Decision No. 895/QD-TTg dated August 24, 2024 of the Prime Minister approving the National Forestry Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 in Nghe An province, analyzed data and approved a number of local forestry planning orientations according to the approval decision and a number of new policies related to the forestry sector.

The plan also sets out a vision for 2050 on forestry development planning in terms of economy, society and environment.
The conference heard comments from many experts, scientists, and participating units and localities. Among them were many enthusiastic comments such as: Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien shared his opinion on forestry economics from the perspective of local human resources and national forestry planning. Mr. Nguyen Tien Lam - Vice President of the Association of Wood and Non-Timber Forest Products of Nghe An province gave his opinion on the current situation and solutions for the wood and non-timber forest products processing industry in Nghe An. Associate Professor, Dr. Phung Van Khoa - Vice Rector of Vietnam Forestry University contributed solutions on human resource development from the perspective of Nghe An's forest resources. Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Lien Son - Director of the Vietnam Forestry Economics Research Center gave his opinion on plantation codes and digital technology application solutions for the forestry industry.

Comrade Tran Quang Bao - Director of the Forestry Department shared at the conference about the new points of the National Forestry Planning. Currently, the mechanism and policy have decentralized the authority to the local People's Council in changing the purpose of forest use, opening up space for economic and social development of localities with large forest areas and high forest cover such as Nghe An.
The leaders of the Forestry Department hope that Nghe An province will successfully implement the Forestry Planning towards becoming a model for forestry economic development in the whole country. The Forestry Department will always accompany and support the locality to successfully implement the implementation contents.

Concluding the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the forestry sector plays a particularly important role in the strategy of socio-economic development, environmental protection and response to climate change. As a province with the largest forest area in the country, with forest cover reaching 58.33% in 2023, Nghe An plays a key role in protecting forest resources and developing the forestry economy sustainably.
To achieve the objectives set out in the National Forestry Planning and at the same time effectively apply a number of mechanisms, policies and orientations for forestry development in the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested all levels, sectors and localities to carry out a number of key tasks on sustainable forest protection and management. Maintain the existing natural forest area, strengthen patrol and monitoring measures to prevent deforestation and illegal logging. Apply technology such as remote sensing and GIS systems in monitoring forest resources, ensuring effective management. Build close coordination mechanisms between forest rangers, local authorities and people in forest management. At the same time, improve capacity, community awareness and apply science and technology and digitalize the forestry sector...
