With the goal of forming a high-quality cinnamon raw material area, creating products to meet the needs of domestic and foreign markets; thereby, contributing to creating livelihoods for local people, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, reducing pressure on natural forests..., in July 2017, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 2937/QD-UBND approving the Project on planting cinnamon trees in Que Phong district for the period 2017 - 2020 (referred to as Project 2937). There were times when the area of Cinnamon trees in Que Phong district reached thousands of hectares. But now, the number of trees can be counted on the fingers, scattered in the gardens of people in Que Son, Tien Phong, Muong Noc communes... In 2016, the Department of Science and Technology carried out a scientific project to preserve the genetic resources of this precious forest product. According to the above Decision, the area for planting Cinnamon trees is 350 hectares, it will be necessary to have 350,000 seedlings (average 1,000 trees/ha) of guaranteed quality, with the exact origin of native Cinnamon trees. Therefore, the 120,000 Cinnamon trees created by Pu Hoat Nature Reserve will be a valuable source of seedlings to implement Decision 2937.
