Nghe An and Son La discuss cooperation plan to develop agricultural and forestry product processing industry

At the working session, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development introduced to the delegation the potentials, strengths and achievements in developing agricultural processing economy of Nghe An province.Notably, the agricultural growth rate of Nghe An province reached 4.7%, the value of agriculture, forestry and fishery in 2020 is estimated at over 27,500 billion VND.

With the potential and advantages to develop the agricultural and forestry processing industry, along with the province's efforts, Nghe An currently has 14,829 agricultural and forestry processing establishments, creating jobs for about 30,000 workers; in 2019, the value of agricultural and forestry processing production reached nearly 14,600 billion VND.

The representative of Son La province also gave an overview of some information about the province's socio-economic development. As the third largest province in the country, Son La has many strengths to develop the agricultural and forestry processing industry such as large forest areas, diverse fruit trees, developed livestock...

With a total area of ​​agricultural products and fruit trees reaching 70,000 hectares, and an estimated output of 350,000 tons, Son La has become the province with the second largest area of ​​fruit trees in the country and is the fruit tree center of the North.

Son La province's agricultural products have created a brand in the domestic market and are exported to 15 foreign markets, including many demanding markets such as the US, Japan, Korea, EU... Currently, the province is focusing on building Son La into an agricultural processing center of the North.

Affirming that Nghe An and Son La have many similarities in natural conditions, the leaders of the two provinces exchanged some experiences in attracting investment and developing the agricultural and forestry processing industry to exploit the available potential. “The presence of enterprises is one of the necessary conditions, playing an extremely important role in developing agricultural and forestry processing, especially enterprises with strong potential; in investment, it is necessary to concentrate, avoid spreading to achieve maximum efficiency; proactively build concentrated raw material areas to attract enterprises to invest in building processing plants. In particular, in addition to appropriate policy mechanisms, the province must build an effective working mechanism, rectify and reform administrative procedures, creating the most favorable conditions for enterprises" - Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu affirmed.

Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Quoc Khanh thanked Nghe An for sharing experiences in developing agricultural and forestry product processing, and assigned members of the delegation to receive, develop and implement the project of restructuring agriculture associated with product processing of Son La province.
