Nghe An honors 26 'People's Artisans' and 'Meritorious Artisans' in the field of intangible cultural heritage
(Baonghean.vn) - These are the artisans who were awarded titles by the President in September 2022, including 1 People's Artisan and 25 Meritorious Artisans.
On the afternoon of December 23, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a conference to summarize 10 years of implementing the inventory of intangible cultural heritage (2011 - 2021); the ceremony to award the titles of "People's Artisan" and "Meritorious Artisan" in the field of intangible cultural heritage for the third time in 2022.
Attending the conference were comrade Nong Quoc Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism). On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades of the Provincial Party Executive Committee: Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Thi My Hanh - Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; representatives of leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches.
Nearly 500 heritages inventoried
Pursuant to Circular No. 04/2010/TT-BVHTTDL dated June 30, 2010 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism regulating inventoryintangible cultural heritageand establish scientific records of intangible cultural heritage to include in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage and the plans of the Provincial People's Committee. From 2011 to 2021, based on the results of the district's inventory, through analysis and synthesis, the whole province has conducted an inventory of 463 heritages.

Based on the results of the inventory, on the basis of proposals from localities, the work of compiling dossiers of typical heritages to propose the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to include them in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritages has also been paid attention to and carried out. Accordingly, Nghe An has the heritage of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Songs which has been recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Currently, Nghe An has 7 heritages included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List: Con Temple Festival (Hoang Mai town), Qua Temple Festival (Do Luong district), Chin Gian Temple Festival (Que Phong district), Bach Ma Temple Festival (Thanh Chuong district), Thanh Liet Temple Festival (Hung Nguyen district),Ong Hoang Muoi Temple Festival(Hung Nguyen district), Xang Khan ritual of Thai ethnic people in Western Nghe An.

Currently, the Department of Culture and Sports is completing the heritage dossier of the Thunder Ceremony of the O Du people in Tuong Duong district; Ancient Thai script in Western Nghe An; Yen Luong Temple Festival in Nghi Thuy ward, Cua Lo town; Nguyen Canh Hoan Temple Festival (Decade of Ceremony) in Trang Son commune, Do Luong district to submit to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to include in the List of national intangible cultural heritage.
In addition, implementing Decree No. 62/2014/ND-CP dated June 25, 2014 of the Government regulating the awarding of the titles "People's Artisan", "Meritorious Artisan" in the field of intangible cultural heritage, through 3 rounds of awarding artisans, the whole province has 259 sets of application files for awarding, including 1 individual awarded the State honorary title "People's Artisan" and 91 individuals awarded the State honorary title "Meritorious Artisan".

Speaking at the Conference, on behalf of the leaders of Nghe An province, comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and commended the achievements of the Department of Culture and Sports, People's Committees of districts, cities, towns and collectives and individuals who have made contributions to the cause of preserving and promoting cultural heritage, contributing worthily to the cause of building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee thanked and praised the truly important and meaningful contributions of the artisans, who are the "living human treasures" of the nation, those who hold, transmit and create spiritual values for the national culture and homeland.
Comrade Bui Dinh Long suggested: To continue to do a good job of preserving and promoting the value of Nghe An's cultural heritage, Party committees at all levels, local authorities in the province, the Department of Culture and Sports and all people need to do a better job of mobilizing social resources for preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage; well manage festival activities, customs, practices, knowledge, and types of folk art and culture.
In addition, continue to research, collect, inventory, and effectively promote the value of intangible cultural heritage, especially Nghe Tinh vi and giam and traditional cultural heritages of ethnic minorities; focus on honoring and creating conditions for artisans to preserve, practice, and teach heritage.
The Department of Culture and Sports continues to advise the Provincial People's Committee to effectively implement mechanisms and policies on culture in general and cultural heritage in particular, creating a favorable environment for the activities of artisans, artists, and cultural researchers, making Nghe An culture more widespread and expanding domestic and international integration.

At the conference, authorized by the President, the provincial leaders and the Department of Cultural Heritage awarded the titles of "People's Artisan" and "Meritorious Artisan" to 26 artisans who were awarded these titles in September 2022.
Among them is 1 People's Artist, folk singer Vo Thi Hong Van (Ngoc Son commune, Thanh Chuong district) and 25 Meritorious Artists.
On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 4 collectives and 10 individuals with outstanding achievements in intangible cultural heritage inventory activities in the period 2011 - 2021.
