Nghe An builds 96 "model" collective kitchens, restaurants, and hotels

(Baonghean.vn) - These 96 food safety models include collective kitchens in large companies, in schools and restaurants in hotels.

In order to improve the effectiveness of state management of food safety and limit food poisoning cases, on March 5, 2019, Nghe An Department of Health issued a plan to build a pilot model of "Collective kitchens and restaurants in hotels meeting food safety conditions" at establishments not subject to the issuance of certificates of qualified establishments in Nghe An province.

According to the plan: Based on the list of collective kitchens and restaurants in hotels proposed by the health department (health center) of districts, towns and cities, the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene of Nghe An province will conduct an assessment and select facilities to build a pilot model. The construction of the pilot model is also based on the voluntary registration of collective kitchens and restaurants in hotels.

When implementing the pilot model, each collective kitchen and restaurant in the hotel will be provided with a 3-step food inspection book and a food sample storage book by the Food Safety and Hygiene Department; equipped with posters, billboards promoting food hygiene; food sample storage tools, gloves, aprons, masks, hair caps, etc.

The implementation period starts from March to the end of October 2019. After implementation, the Provincial Department of Food Safety and Hygiene will establish a council to evaluate and recognize pilot models for provincial-level facilities. Facilities that are recognized as meeting food safety requirements will be granted a food safety qualification certificate.

The establishments that have been granted the license plate must regularly maintain food safety work in accordance with regulations and model criteria. Each year, the model will be inspected and re-evaluated. If the establishment fails to meet the requirements, the authorities will revoke the license plate.

Similar to the provincial level, the district level will also develop its own pilot models. In which, the health department and health center play a key role in guiding, inspecting, evaluating, granting recognition to pilot models as well as conducting inspections and re-evaluations.

The health sector hopes that from the pilot model, food safety work will be replicated at other facilities in the province.

Information from the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene: It is expected that the whole province will build 96 pilot models. Of which, the provincial pilot models are 20 collective kitchens belonging to companies and restaurants in hotels. The district pilot models are 76, mainly collective kitchens in schools... As of April 1, 16 collective kitchens and restaurants in hotels have voluntarily registered to deploy the provincial pilot model.
