Huge shipbuilding industry in Hoang Mai

(Baonghean.vn) - With a traditional offshore fishing profession, in recent years, the addition of shipbuilding policies under Decree 67 has helped shipbuilding establishments in Quynh Lap - Hoang Mai increasingly improve their skills and build large and beautiful ships.

Quynh Lap currently has 2 offshore shipbuilding facilities, each facility builds 3-5 large ships each year, each ship worth from 11 to 13 billion VND.

To build a large ship, the technical team and workers must be experienced and knowledgeable about the river trade. They must know how to use each type of wood to suit each part of the ship to ensure different hardness, curvature, flexibility... According to ship owners, to have good ships, the ship's skeleton must be extremely strong and secure.

Each person has a job, but all must coordinate smoothly with each other.

Creating curves is considered the most difficult step in shipbuilding. It requires the craftsman to know how to heat and bend wood with the best types of wood such as vulture, star... The curved part of the ship shows its artistry while ensuring its efficiency when operating at sea. Shipbuilding facilities in Quynh Lap are currently building ships for fishermen in Ha Tinh and Thanh Hoa.

A completed ship not only has a wooden hull but is also equipped with fishing machinery suitable for its fishing capacity. Mr. Le Ba Ky - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Quynh Lap Commune, Hoang Mai Town said: "Quynh Lap has 2 boat building facilities that have been approved by the Provincial People's Committee to be qualified to build ships according to Decree 67. The process of building ships ensures quality, is trusted by fishermen everywhere and is highly appreciated by the inspection agency".
