Dien Chau produces 15,000 tons of peanuts each year, of which 50% are exported to other countries, the rest serve the domestic market. Peanuts and sesame are selected cleanly, put into a press to produce crude oil, then put into a settling pot. People who press oil say that about 10-11 kg of peanuts will produce a 5 liter can of peanut oil.

Pressing oil in this way completely ensures food hygiene and safety. Most people in the area bring peanuts and sesame seeds to be pressed for oil. One hundred thousand sesame seeds must be paid to the pressing facility owner for 40,000 VND in labor. One hundred thousand peanuts must be paid 50,000 VND.

After pressing, the peanuts are put into a boiler to settle the residue and absorb heat. After about 5 minutes, a clear stream of oil will be produced, ensuring quality. Pressed peanut and sesame oil is considered a safe product for health and is chosen by farmers.

At the oil pressing facility, there are also raw peanuts, sesame seeds and various vegetable oils available for sale to people. Sesame oil costs 120,000 VND/liter; peanut oil costs 100,000 VND/liter. Although the price is higher than industrial oil on the market, many people still choose to buy hand-pressed oil.

Peanuts are the main crop that brings tens of billions of dong to Dien Chau district every year. Due to concerns about food on the market, many people have switched to using manually pressed vegetable oil. That creates conditions for oil pressing facilities to earn about 400,000 dong in wages per day. Dried peanuts and by-products after pressing are brought home by families to serve livestock very effectively.
