Artist Han Van Tinh hospitalized for metastatic lung cancer

Meritorious Artist Han Van Tinh was diagnosed with lung cancer. After nearly a month of treatment, his family took him home because they could not afford the expenses. Last night, he had to be hospitalized for emergency treatment.

Ms. Lan - the wife of artist Han Van Tinh - said that on the night of December 31, after returning from a performance, the male artist felt tired. She took him to Saint Paul General Hospital. After that, he was transferred to the Central Lung Hospital. There, he was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in the pleura.

After nearly a month of radiation therapy, his family could not afford to continue treatment so they asked for him to be discharged from the hospital. However, after only one day of returning home, on the evening of January 23, he had to be hospitalized again in emergency condition. His wife said that after having nearly 1 liter of pleural fluid removed, his health has improved and he is no longer in critical condition. Currently, artist Han Van Tinh can speak a little but can only eat liquid food.

Ms. Lan added that although Health Insurance covers 50% of the treatment costs, radiation therapy is still too expensive: “If you do radiation therapy, it will cost 1.3 million VND per day, and the treatment will be long-term,” she said. Because of the financial constraints, the family plans to treat him with Oriental medicine.

Artist Han Van Tinh currently lives with his wife and two children in a temporary house. He and his wife have two children. The eldest child has finished school but has no job yet, while the second child is in college.
