The year 2013 was full of difficulties and challenges, making investment and production of enterprises in Nghi Loc district difficult. The total production value in 2013 reached 6,055 billion VND, exceeding the set plan and increasing by 8.7% compared to 2012. Of which, the production value of agriculture - forestry - fishery reached 1,312 billion VND, industry - construction reached 3,490 billion VND, trade - services reached 1,253 billion VND. The economic growth rate reached 8.3%, the average income per capita reached 18.9 million VND/year. The economic structure continues to shift in the right direction, in which industry - construction accounts for 42.4%, trade - services account for 32.1%, agriculture - forestry - fishery accounts for 25.5%.

Over the past year, Nghi Loc has continued to be successful in transforming the crop structure, increasing the income value per unit area and applying scientific and technical advances towards a sustainable and highly efficient agriculture. The district has successfully built 4 large model fields for high-quality rice in the communes of Nghi Dong, Nghi Kieu, Nghi Hoa and Nghi Long. In addition, the area of ​​high-quality rice continues to be expanded, gradually replacing the area of ​​low-yield, low-quality rice in the communes of Nghi Kieu, Nghi Lam, Nghi Hoa, Nghi Dong, etc. The socio-economic development of the locality is always associated with the process of building new rural areas. Currently, 100% of communes in the district have completed the construction and announcement of planning. There are 6 communes that have achieved 12 or more criteria for building new rural areas such as Nghi Thai, Nghi Xuan, Nghi Lam, Nghi Trung, Phuc Tho, Nghi Long, etc. The movement to build new rural areas in Nghi Loc has always received timely response from all the people.

The district's key industries all grew compared to the previous year. Some typical examples include wooden boat building which increased by 7.14%, beer of all kinds reaching 42.45 million tons (up 4.8%), steel structure processing increased by 177.4%, NPK fertilizer reached 45,000 tons, up 350%, wood chips for export increased by 3.45%. The technical infrastructure system of Nam Cam and Truong Thach industrial clusters continues to be completed and attracts investment projects. The district continues to promote the activities of 22 craft villages, creating jobs for thousands of workers, including many craft villages that operate well and are very effective such as shipbuilding, bamboo and rattan weaving, green rice cakes... In particular, with the efforts of the entire political system and people, over the past year, Nghi Loc has tried to speed up the construction and completion of many basic construction projects such as the project to upgrade the Left and Right dykes of Cam River, Quan Hanh - Cho Son road, the road to Nghi Cong production forest, National Highway 1A - Nghi Phuong - Nghi Hung - Nghi Dong, craft village infrastructure in Nghi Thai and Phuc Tho communes, and the 3-storey office building of the District Party Committee. 5 offices, 1 meeting hall and office building in the communes have been completed and put into use, and the facilities of schools are increasingly being improved, meeting the teaching and learning needs of teachers and students.

The movement of the whole people to build a cultural life has had many positive changes. In 2013, Nghi Loc organized to receive 18 "Cultural Villages" and 13 "Cultural Families" along with many other relics recognized as historical and cultural relics such as Cua Temple and the tomb of General Ninh Ve in Nghi Khanh commune, Tam Toa Temple, Trang Liet Temple, etc. Traditional local festivals continue to be maintained, attracting many tourists and truly becoming the highlights of the district such as the Temple Festival of Grand Tutor Cuong Quoc Cong Nguyen Xi, Cua Temple Festival, and the 140th Anniversary of the Birth of the patriotic scholar Dang Thai Than. The quality of education has made much progress. During the year, 192 students won prizes in the English Olympic competition, 1 student won a national Bronze Medal, 2 students won Encouragement Prizes, 1,700 students were admitted to universities and colleges. There were 6 more schools meeting national standards, bringing the total number of schools meeting standards to 57. The district continues to effectively implement vocational training plans, creating new jobs for more than 5,000 workers, including exporting more than 1,200 workers. Medical work and health care for the people are constantly being improved, implementing well national health target programs, doing well in preventive medicine, preventing dangerous epidemics from occurring. National defense and security are maintained, ensuring political stability, creating a solid foundation for socio-economic development.

In 2013, Nghi Loc district continued to promote administrative reform, improve service quality at one-stop transaction centers of the district and communes, towns as well as administrative and public service agencies in the area. Build and apply a quality management system according to ISO 9001:2008 standards at the district People's Committee office associated with simplifying administrative procedures and applying IT to public processes.
