The district prioritizes the construction and upgrading of traffic routes connecting dynamic economic zones (Southeast Economic Zone, Bai Lu Tourist Area, Nam Cam Industrial Park, etc.), with Cua Lo Port, Vinh Airport and with the external traffic system, especially National Highway 1A, National Highway 46, to promote rapid development of economic sectors. Complete the infrastructure of the Southeast Economic Zone and synchronous industrial parks with convenient services for businesses right in the economic zones and industrial parks. According to the approved planning until 2020, Nghi Loc has identified priority industries and products for development as industry - construction, exploitation and production of construction materials, agricultural, forestry, fishery and food processing industry, mechanical industry, electronics, information technology, electricity industry and domestic water production, in addition to developing services, shipbuilding, and high-tech agriculture.

Economic development target by 2020 of Nghi Loc: Average annual economic growth rate in the period of 2016 - 2020 reaches 12.5 - 13.5%, of which the industrial and construction sector increases by 16.6%, the service sector increases by 13.5%, and agriculture increases by 3.4%. The structure of agriculture, forestry and fishery is 15.10%, industry - construction is 48.50% and services are 36.40%. Total food output in 2020 reaches over 90,000 tons. 19/21 communes have completed 19/19 criteria for new rural areas (reaching 65-72%). State budget revenue in the area (excluding land use fees) reaches about 170 billion VND (average annual budget revenue increase is 18-20%).
