(Baonghean) -In hamlet 10, Quynh Thang commune, Quynh Luu district, the people here tell each other a story that seems like a "fairy tale" about a mother, a woman who sacrificed everything for her children until she fell ill, but she still struggled to live to raise her two children to go to university.

In 1990, Ms. Ho Thi Thuan from Quynh Minh commune married Mr. Cao Danh Than from Dien Hung commune (Dien Chau) and together they went to the mountainous commune of Quynh Thang to start a business. The couple lived happily and had two sons, Cao Van Linh (1992) and Cao Van Son (1993).

Due to the difficulties of lack of investment capital for production, in order to have money to raise his children, Mr. Than went to the South to work as a construction worker. Not long after leaving, while Mrs. Thuan was waiting for news of her husband, at the end of 1993, she received news that her husband had died in a tragic traffic accident, when Son was only 3 months old. All hope was gone, Mrs. Thuan was like a ghost, crying miserably all day long, missing her husband.

Then, looking at her two children's faces, her faith seemed to be urged and comforted, she calmed down and devoted all her remaining strength to her children. A mother, two children in the middle of the deserted hills, she would do anything anyone hired her, as long as she had five cents or thirty cents to raise her children. Not letting down her mother's trust, throughout their high school years, both Linh and Son were good students, excellent students. In particular, Cao Van Son was also a typical example of a poor student who overcame difficulties and was admitted directly to the province's SOS school in their final years of high school. Having raised two children to be educated and provided for, during those years, due to hard work and struggles, Ms. Thuan often had to be hospitalized. There was even a time when she had a uterine fibroid surgery and the doctor mistakenly cut the ureter, and it was not until more than three months later that the pain did not stop, and she was re-examined at the hospital to discover it. Since then, she has suffered from a series of illnesses such as colitis, heart failure, and liver disease, causing her body to shrink from 60 kg to just over 30 kg.

Ms. Ho Thi Thuan is lying on the hospital bed.

Recently, while being treated at the hospital, when all the assets in the house had been sold, she received the news that both Linh and Son had been admitted to two prestigious universities. Son was admitted to the National Economics University in Hanoi, and Linh was admitted to the Industrial University in Ho Chi Minh City. Although she did not have any assets in the house, Ms. Thuan still tried to borrow money from the bank to send her two children to university, "I know that at home I have to make a living, but for the future of my children" - Ms. Thuan said in tears.

Up to now, her strength has been exhausted, Ms. Thuan is living in the "final stage" of the peak of the disease, the daily medicine cost up to hundreds of thousands of dong while her two children are studying at university with very high costs. Although the money donated by the village and the community has somewhat comforted and given more will to live for this mother and woman, the dropping out of school of the two future engineers is very close, Ms. Thuan's burning dream is difficult to achieve, she hopes for the help of benefactors and the community so that Ms. Thuan's children can have the conditions to study.
