The Will to Overcome Difficulties of a War Invalids
(Baonghean.vn) Having devoted the best years of his youth to the cause of national liberation, young man Nguyen Cong Hung returned to his homeland after leaving behind a part of his flesh and blood to his "motherland".
On his return, in addition to the medals, his body was also infused with another terrible poison - Agent Orange (dioxin), which caused 3 of his 4 children to suffer from unusual epileptic seizures and their bodies to not be as healthy as other normal people. The most serious was the youngest son Nguyen Cong Cuong. Cuong was mute, his hands were atrophied, he was thin and weak, only his agile legs could do everything instead of his hands. He was a 4/4 disabled veteran, the consequence of years of fighting on the Eastern battlefield, the Cambodian battlefield... was his health gradually deteriorating, combined with the burden of worrying about treating his children, making the family's economy increasingly difficult. He and his family had to face a "new battlefield" without gunfire but also full of hardships and challenges: the battle for survival.
In the early days of his career, he did not hesitate to do any job, from running errands to working for hire, as long as he had income to support his family and pay for his children's medical treatment.
Mr. Hung takes care of his family's deer.
With the determination of Uncle Ho's soldier, he has constantly overcome his circumstances. In 2002, with the encouragement and support of his comrades in the Veterans Association of Quynh Thuan commune (Quynh Luu), he boldly borrowed capital to invest in raising deer. Starting with a pair of deer, his family has now maintained 2 mother deer and 5 deer for their fortune.
From raising deer, his family earns 35-40 million VND each year. He shared: "When I was under bombs and bullets, I did not give up, and now I do not allow myself to give up. I just hope to have the health to work and treat my children." Thanks to the efforts of the couple, his family's economy is now gradually stabilizing, and he has the conditions to treat his children. He also participates in the work of the Commune Veterans Association. In addition to raising deer, his family also invests in raising cows and porcupines for breeding. Currently, the family's porcupines are about to give birth to their first litter, promising to bring in a profit of 10-15 million VND/year. His family also received a contract of 8 sao of rice fields to grow vegetables and grass for livestock.
After tireless efforts, he has brought his family through the storm. Now, the economy is stable, the children have grown up, and thanks to medical treatment, their illnesses have gradually stabilized. He is an example of rising up to change his fate, demonstrating the determination of Uncle Ho's soldiers.
