Nghi Phong: Effectiveness from developing export rattan and bamboo weaving profession
(Baonghean) -With infertile sandy lands, agricultural production is completely dependent on nature. If Nghi Loc only relies on farming, people's lives will be very difficult. In recent years, developing the export rattan and bamboo weaving industry has been identified as a way out of poverty for many localities, especially in Nghi Phong (Nghi Loc).
Mrs. Hai's family (Phong Canh hamlet) has two sao of agricultural land that specializes in growing sesame. This is a barren land, the irrigation and drainage system is still limited, so the productivity is usually only 4-5 kg/sao, life is very difficult. Since the bamboo and rattan weaving profession, if working hard, the three laborers in the family often have an average income of 50-60 thousand VND/person/day.
Bamboo and rattan weaving creates many jobs for people in Nghi Phong.
Vice Chairman of Nghi Phong Commune People's Committee - Mr. Nguyen Trong Hieu said: Because bamboo and rattan weaving is a traditional craft of the locality, Nghi Phong has the advantage of having many very skilled artisans. Every year, the commune builds a new training plan of 1-2 classes with 50-60 workers, at the same time organizes retraining and advanced training to improve the quantity and quality of workers, thanks to which up to now, the commune has had more than 1,000 skilled workers and the number of craft villages recognized by the Provincial People's Committee has reached 4 villages, including Phong Phu hamlet's wind paper village, and at the same time, 5 more villages with the craft have been expanded to continue building the craft village.
Thanks to the development of rattan and bamboo weaving, people's lives have been improved, and the face of the countryside has been constantly renewed. In 2001, the production value of the construction industry accounted for less than 10% of the total production value, but by 2010, that figure was 30.6%, of which the production value from craft villages and craft villages accounted for 30% of the industrial production, handicrafts and construction industries. Each year, Nghi Phong's craft villages produce 50-60 thousand export products, with an average income of 1.3-1.5 million VND/person/month, and skilled workers in enterprises earn 1.5-2 million VND/person/month.
Products are increasingly sophisticated and are exported to many countries around the world.
The construction and development of craft villages, in addition to creating jobs, changing jobs for people, increasing income for people and society, also gradually creates jobs for people with the motto "leaving agriculture but not leaving home". Infrastructure serving economic and cultural life is also increasingly invested in and built more spaciously. In recent years, from state investment capital and mobilization of people, Nghi Phong has built two more traffic routes through craft villages, bringing the total length of rural asphalt roads in the commune to nearly 30 km. In addition, the commune has built more transformer stations and low-voltage power systems in craft villages, serving the production and daily life of people in the commune./.
