Nghi Phuong: Mobilizing people to build rural roads
(Baonghean) - These days, on the inter-village roads in hamlet 9, Nghi Phuong commune (Nghi Loc), people are enthusiastically participating in clearing trees and demolishing surrounding walls to clear the land in preparation for the locality to launch a campaign to build rural traffic.
The local people not only responded enthusiastically, contributing many working days to expand this road, but also voluntarily donated dozens of square meters of garden land, residential land and demolished ancillary works to prepare for the road construction.
One of the typical examples of the movement to donate land for rural traffic, serving the construction of new rural areas is the family of Mr. Phan Van Dan. Although the family is not well-off, but realizing that this is a major policy of the State and the locality, Mr. Dan's family voluntarily demolished the surrounding walls, kiosks and donated nearly 50 square meters of garden land. Mr. Dan shared: "I followed Uncle Ho's teachings, sacrificing interests for the common good, so when the village expanded the traffic road, I and the people voluntarily demolished the fences, and kiosks that were doing business, and donated land to build a new, spacious road, convenient for people to travel and produce."
Determining that the road expansion would affect the garden and residential land of some households, before the construction started, many units organized neighborhood meetings to collect opinions and listen to the wishes of the people, from which they calculated, decided on contributions, managed, and supervised the implementation based on the guidance and direction of the commune. The neighborhood executive committee regularly visited households to propagate and mobilize people, especially poor and near-poor households, to understand the policies of the Party and the State. At the same time, they mobilized the active and enthusiastic participation of the people such as: Mobilizing working days to build rural roads, donating construction materials, and renovating houses in residential areas.
First of all, cadres and party members are the pioneers, the core for the people to follow. With that way of doing, most households agree to donate land, whether residential land or garden land, people are still willing to dismantle it to widen the road. Mr. Le Dang Phong - Head of Hamlet 8, Nghi Phuong Commune said: "When there was a policy of the state supporting cement for road construction, we implemented it, everyone in the hamlet was happy, excited, voluntarily donated land, demolished constructions on the land where the road passed, contributed working days, each person contributed 750 thousand VND to build a wide road to build the village more and more spacious and beautiful".

Nghi Phuong people (Nghi Loc) build rural roads. |
In 2013, Nghi Phuong received 800 tons of cement from the district, so the People's Committee of the commune selected 4 hamlets, hamlets 3, 4, 8, and 9, as the focal points. The people of the hamlets voluntarily donated thousands of square meters of garden land, residential land, removed fences, and contributed labor to expand rural roads and renew the drainage system. At the same time, the people here voluntarily contributed 400,000 to 800,000 VND per person, and contributed labor days to build and renovate the inter-village and inter-hamlet roads.
In addition to the district's support mechanism, the commune supports 3 excavator shifts for each km of land clearance to speed up the progress. Up to this point, the whole commune has cleared more than 5,000 m of rural roads and drainage canals. Nghi Phuong is also striving to build 8 to 10 km of rural roads by the end of 2013.
The mobilization of people to voluntarily contribute to the construction of rural traffic in Nghi Phuong once again affirms the power of the people as beloved Uncle Ho taught: "It is a hundred times easier without the people to endure, a thousand times harder with the people to handle it."
