A source told VnExpress that Quyen had a criminal record for drug trafficking and had served a few months in prison. He was a drug addict and lived alone in a house in Cam Xuyen town. His parents had passed away and his wife and children had left him.

"A few years ago, Quyen was accused by the people in the neighborhood of drug trafficking and was arrested and imprisoned. After his sentence expired, he harbored resentment and intended to set up a mine to blow up his house, affecting the people around him," the source said.

The leader of Cam Xuyen District Police confirmed that there were two mines in Quyen's house. Currently, police and military forces have been mobilized to come up with a plan to neutralize these explosives.
