Nghia Dan: 2015 Reproductive Health Care/Family Planning Campaign

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 9, the People's Committee of Nghia Dan district launched the 2015 reproductive health care/family planning campaign.

More than 1,000 officials, people and students attended and responded to the campaign with the goal of "Providing appropriate contraceptive methods to 95% of those in need, treating 100% of women who come to gynecological clinics with diseases, and providing 90% of women of childbearing age with information and understanding of reproductive health/family planning".

Representatives of 25 communes, towns and students attended the launching ceremony.

In recent years, population work, reproductive health care/family planning of Nghia Dan district has achieved encouraging results.

The annual birth rate decreased rapidly: The birth rate was 16.8%, down 2.5% compared to 2013 (19.3%), the birth rate of the third child or more was: 15.2%, down 1.3% compared to 2013 (16.5%). The natural population growth rate reached: 1.17%, down 0.3% compared to 2013 (1.47%). The annual rate of acceptance of contraceptive measures was maintained sustainably. In particular, the model of a small, healthy, happy family has been accepted and voluntarily implemented by the majority of the population, people's lives have been gradually improved, and the quality of life has been significantly enhanced.

However, in some localities, population and family planning work is still limited, with women in these areas still having very low access to safe motherhood services. Up to 30% of pregnant women do not receive prenatal and childbirth care, and nearly 70% of women suffer from gynecological diseases but do not have the conditions to be examined and treated.

To successfully implement the campaign, in addition to organizing propaganda and mobilization activities. During the campaign, the District People's Committee requested departments, branches and unions to coordinate and strengthen the organization of communication and education activities among union members, officials, civil servants and the people.
