Nghia Dan: Nghia Long Commune receives recognition as a New Rural Commune

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 22, the Party Committee, government and people of Nghia Long commune, Nghia Dan district held a ceremony to receive the commune that met national standards for new rural construction.

This is the first commune of Nghia Dan district to reach the new rural area goal in 2015. Attending the welcoming ceremony were comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for New Rural Construction; comrade Vi Luu Binh - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, along with leaders of the district Party Committee, the district People's Committee and heads and deputy heads of district-level departments.

Nghia Long commune has 12 hamlets, a population of over 3,600 people, of which ethnic minorities account for 73.4%. In 2010, Nghia Long commune only achieved 3/19 criteria. In 4 years of implementing the national target program on building new rural areas, promoting the consensus of the entire political system and the internal strength of the entire population, Nghia Long has completed synchronous and standard infrastructure systems. From an agricultural commune, Nghia Long has now shifted its economic structure in the right direction, with average income per capita in 2014 reaching 23.4 million VND/year, the poverty rate reduced to 9.8%; the commune has built synchronous infrastructure, built more than 26 km of inter-commune and inter-village roads; nearly 15 km of village and alley roads. Security and order are ensured, cultural life is concerned.

At the ceremony, comrade Dinh Viet Hong praised and acknowledged the results that the Party Committee, government and people of Nghia Long commune (Nghia Dan) have strived to achieve in the National Target Program on New Rural Construction. He hoped that Nghia Long commune would continue to promote its hometown tradition to constantly improve the quality of new rural criteria, continue to promote socio-economic development, towards rapid and sustainable development, further improving the material and spiritual life and knowledge of the people.
