Mourinho's adversity when Chelsea won the Premier League
The Chelsea boss is the first manager to lead a club to the title but not win a single Manager of the Month award during the 2005-2006 and 2014-2015 seasons.
Chelsea won the title this season with three games to spare. But their tactician has not been rated highly in any month of the season, although he will probably be voted the Premier League's best manager this year when the season ends in May.
Leicester City's Nigel Pearson has been named Premier League Manager of the Month for April, having guided the club to four consecutive wins to escape the relegation zone. This is also the final month of the season for the organisers to award individual monthly awards.

In the history of the Premier League (since 1992), there have only been two occasions when a champion manager has gone an entire season without being awarded a monthly award. That was the case with Mourinho when he won the title with Chelsea in 2005-06, and now.
In the past few seasons, both Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have managed to win the Coach of the Month award just once in April in the season when either Man Utd or Arsenal won the title.
In the second phase of the current season, Mourinho has been repeatedly criticized for implementing a pragmatic, boring style of play with a heavy emphasis on defense, despite the fact that only Man City have scored more goals than Chelsea in the Premier League this season.

Chelsea not only usurped the throne from Man City but also won the title three rounds early with a current gap of 13 points. However, that was not enough to help Mourinho make the strongest impression on the 40-member voting board of the tournament's Organizing Committee in each specific month.
Asked earlier this season about his repeated defeats in the monthly vote, Mourinho replied: “I don’t care. But it’s not right, because in my four years in the Premier League I’ve only been named manager of the month three times. So I’m sure they don’t like me. But I don’t care. I just want my team to win.”
Meanwhile, in December 2014, the spokesman for the monthly awards in the Premier League, Mr. Andrew McDougall, denied there was a campaign against Mourinho.

“The voting panel consists of around 40 people, all of them involved in football, from former players and football journalists to representatives of the Football Managers’ Association, the FA and the Premier League. The monthly winners are simply the ones who get the most votes each month. I’m sure Jose Mourinho’s name is considered by the voting members each month, but all aspects are relative. Sam Allardyce was manager of the month for October 2014, for example, with three wins and a draw. Jose is a contender every month, but other managers are sometimes rated higher each month because they have succeeded with a much weaker squad than Chelsea. Even Tony Pulis was voted manager of the month last season after turning around Crystal Palace to finish mid-table.”
