(Baonghean.vn) - Her husband was a drug addict and infected with HIV and died. She was in dire straits because of her poor family and two young children. When she was hired to carry 4 bricks of heroin to Dien Chau to deliver to a customer, Luong Thi Chien agreed. Before receiving her payment, Chien had to go to jail to serve her sentence.

The defendants in court

The indictment of the Procuracy determined: Because his wife and children settled in Kon Tum province, Le Van Vinh occasionally took a bus to visit them, and sometimes stayed for a long time as a motorbike taxi driver. During his time as a motorbike taxi driver, Vinh became acquainted with a "colleague" named Tam (identity and specific address unknown), the two discussed and agreed on ways to buy and sell drugs to make a profit. On February 13, 2012, Vinh took a bus to Nghe An and then went to Tuong Duong to find a source of goods. Because he knew Kha Van Quy (born in 1964, residing in Xop Mat village, Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong), Vinh called to discuss buying 4 heroin sticks for 88 million VND. After receiving the money, Quy asked Vinh to go to Dien Chau town where someone would deliver the goods.

Knowing that Luong Thi Chien (married and living in Thanh Chuong district) was in dire straits and had two young children who had to stay with their parents in the same village, Kha Van Quy hired Chien to bring drugs to Dien Chau town to deliver to Vinh. Kha gave Chien Vinh's phone number for the transaction and advanced Chien 400,000 VND for travel expenses.

At noon on February 15, Chien met and delivered 4 heroin sticks to Vinh in a motel room in Dien Chau town. When both of them left the motel, they were discovered and caught red-handed by the police. The results of the examination showed that the amount of heroin seized from Vinh and Chien weighed more than 114 grams.

Three months before the trial, Luong Thi Chien became a widow. Her drug-addicted husband, infected with HIV/AIDS in the final stages, returned to the land, leaving Chien with the burden of poverty and two young children (6 and 4 years old). Chien's biological parents in Xop Mat village, Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong were also heavily addicted to drugs, with a precarious life of poverty, but with no place to rely on, so after her husband passed away, Chien had to take her two children back to her parents. She also could not have imagined that all the disasters would start from her birthplace when she was lured away but could not resist poverty. When Chien was arrested, luckily a relative took her two children in to raise. Although the distance was far, since Chien was arrested, she had not seen her children again, so she brought them to the trial to attend. Chien's little daughter had a broken arm that was roughly splinted and bandaged with some herbs picked from the forest - she had fallen 2 days ago while playing. Looking at Chien, she was in pain and tears welled up in her eyes.

Luong Thi Chien cries The provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial for the case of "illegal drug trafficking" against Le Van Vinh (born in 1970, residing in Nghia Hoa commune, Tan Ky district) and Luong Thi Chien (born in 1987, residing in Thanh Son commune, Thanh Chuong). Sentenced Le Van Vinh to 20 years in prison, Luong Thi Chien to 17 years in prison.

Allowed to say the last words before the court deliberated, she sobbed: "Please give me the lightest sentence possible so that I can return home to raise my child soon." During the deliberation, with permission from the court security force, the three mother and children rushed into each other and cried like rain. Chien kept holding her child's broken arm and crying.

Ironically, Chien's family was destroyed by drugs, and now once again Chien leaves behind two children who are helpless because of drugs...
