Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh expressed the honor and pride of the diplomatic sector that has always received the attention and direct guidance of the Party and Uncle Ho since its early days of establishment.

President Ho Chi Minh was the first Foreign Minister, who laid the foundation for Vietnam's revolutionary diplomacy. The Party's leadership and Ho Chi Minh's ideology on foreign affairs are the decisive factors in all the successes of Vietnam's diplomacy over the past 70 years.

The diplomatic sector has strived hard, achieved many successes, and effectively served the cause of national construction and development; this is also the result of promoting the combined strength of all three pillars: Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy.

With the close attention and direction of the Party Central Committee and the Politburo, the diplomatic sector has achieved extremely important victories from the signing of the 1954 Geneva Agreement, the 1973 Paris Agreement, breaking the embargo of the 80s and 90s of the last century, expanding foreign relations, establishing strategic partnership frameworks, comprehensive partnerships with neighboring countries, important countries in the world, promoting international integration, enhancing Vietnam's position in the region and the world, creating a peaceful environment to build and develop the country and firmly protect the territorial sovereignty of the Fatherland.

On behalf of the Politburo and the Secretariat, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong sent his most sincere and warmest regards to the diplomatic staff on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the sector's tradition; at the same time, thanked the sincere, deep feelings and responsibility of generations of diplomatic staff towards the common cause of the Party and the nation.

The General Secretary emphasized the role, position and special importance of the diplomatic sector, since ancient times in the history of the nation's struggle to build and defend the country, especially in the Ho Chi Minh era.

Over the past 70 years, the diplomatic sector has made many great and important contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, changing the face of the country, making international friends understand more about Vietnam, never before has our country had such a foundation and position as today. Never before has the diplomatic sector had such a strong team of cadres as it does now, with courage, capacity, intelligence, well-trained and trained, matured in practical work.

The General Secretary noted that in the coming period, the regional and world situation will continue to evolve rapidly, complicatedly and unpredictably. Besides opportunities and advantages, there will also be many difficulties and challenges. The more deeply the country integrates, the more the diplomatic sector needs to further promote its role and position, and contribute more to the cause of national construction and defense.

The diplomatic sector needs competent, professionally proficient officials with strong political will, who study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology and diplomatic style.

The highest goal of diplomacy is to create a peaceful and stable environment for national construction and development, firmly protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland. The General Secretary affirmed that the Party and State always pay attention to and create the most favorable conditions for the diplomatic sector to successfully fulfill its mission./.
