Foreign Minister Klimkin proposed that the United Nations make Ukrainian the organization's official language.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin wants the UN to make Ukrainian an official language of the organization.
“We can ask the UN to consider our language as an official language of the organization. Ukraine is also a founding country,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin wrote on Facebook on July 17.
Mr. Klimkin noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is currently actively promoting various initiatives to approve the Ukrainian language and transcription.
“For example, our #KyivNotKiev campaign was successful,” the minister added.

In addition, he wrote that he is not against any language, but in favor of Ukrainian.
"I am not against any other languages, I am only for Ukrainian. After all, we are constantly against something. Now is the time to support it," he concluded.
Earlier, the US Council on Geographic Names decided to change the rules for writing the name of Kiev. As Ambassador Valery Chaly stated, the American Council decided to change the name of the capital of Ukraine - from "Kiev" to "Kyiv" - in documents. The change in the database has been in effect since June 17.
