US Secretary of State invites Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh to visit

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh had a meeting with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on the sidelines.G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Bonn, Germany, according to a press release from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the meeting, the two sides said that the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership has made positive and substantial progress in all areas.Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh affirmed that Vietnam values ​​and wishes to strengthen the friendship, cooperation and comprehensive partnership with the US on the basis of respecting each other's political institutions, meeting the interests of the two peoples.

In that spirit, the two sides agreed that the two countries should continue to maintain delegation exchanges and high-level contacts. The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated that Vietnam's senior leaders have invited President Donald Trump to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit and dialogue activities with businesses in Da Nang this coming November.

On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister also invited Secretary Tillerson to visit Vietnam soon. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson invited Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh to visit the US, expressing his wish to visit Vietnam and participate in activities within the framework of APEC Year 2017 in Vietnam.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also discussed international and regional issues.
