Hoang Mai fishermen exploit nearly 15,000 tons of seafood
(Baonghean.vn) - Since the beginning of the year, fishermen in Hoang Mai town have caught nearly 15,000 tons of various types of seafood, an increase of more than 10% over the same period last year.

In June alone, fishermen caught 2,200 tons including 49 tons of shrimp, 243 tons of squid, over 1,800 tons of various fish, and 115 tons of other products. Exported seafood output such as squid, crab, horse mackerel, grouper, anchovy, mackerel, etc. accounted for nearly 70%, contributing to increasing the income of seafarers in Hoang Mai.

The town has also directed relevant departments to coordinate with the fisheries associations of wards, communes, and banks to guide fishermen in completing procedures to borrow capital to build new ships according to Decree 67. Up to now, 21 new ships have been built (2 iron ships and 19 wooden ships), 11 ships have been launched, fishing has been effective, especially the iron ship of fisherman Nguyen Van Phuong in Quynh Phuong ward, each trip earns from 300 - 400 million VND.

It is the peak season for sea urchins, each ship brings back at least 40 - 50 pairs, some ships catch a huge quantity of 200 - 300 pairs. Each pair of sea urchins currently costs from 350 - 400 thousand VND. |
The entire Hoang Mai town has nearly 1,000 fishing vessels, mainly offshore fishing vessels, exploiting the common fishing area of the Gulf of Tonkin and the Hoang Sa sea area. Fishermen have also boldly invested in large ships and large engines to go offshore to increase fishing output, and at the same time proactively change fishing methods to suit the seasonal and weather conditions in the sea areas.
