Prevent liver cancer by eating broccoli
Recently, researchers found that this vegetable also helps prevent liver cancer.
A previous study showed that the compound sulforaphane in broccoli has the ability to prevent cancer recurrence by destroying cancer stem cells.
Medical Daily cited this new study from the University of Illinois (USA) showing that a diet of cruciferous vegetables can help reduce the risk of liver cancer.
“Obesity increases the risk of liver cancer, and this is especially true for men. They have nearly five times the risk of liver cancer if they are obese,” said Elizabeth Jeffery, professor of nutrition at the University of Illinois, in a statement.

There are two causes of fatty liver disease. One, through a diet high in sugar and fat. Two, due to drinking too much alcohol.
Although this study only looked at broccoli, researchers believe other vegetables, including kale, bean sprouts and Brussels sprouts, may have similar effects.
Broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables are rich in antioxidants and have anti-cancer properties. Although healthy, broccoli, like all vegetables, should be eaten in moderation.
A recent study found that eating too much kale or broccoli can lead to the development of hyperthyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid gland doesn't produce enough hormones.
However, we can reduce the impact of broccoli on the thyroid by eating it raw, according to a study published in the journal Agriculture and Food Chemistry./.
