The elderly set a shining example in the cause of innovation
(Baonghean.vn) Looking back at the history of the nation, we are always proud of generations of Vietnamese elderly people.
Uncle Ho affirmed: "The responsibility of the elderly for the country's mission is very important. The prosperous country is built by the elderly. The country exists thanks to the help of the elderly. When the country is lost, the elderly save it. When the country collapses, the elderly support it." Therefore, the tradition and morality of the Vietnamese people always promote the role, position and respect for the elderly. Our Party and State have had many policies to care for the elderly and preferential policies for the elderly are increasingly supplemented and improved, meeting the increasing needs of care and improving the material and spiritual life of the elderly.
Over the past years, the work of caring for the elderly has received careful attention from Party committees, authorities, fronts, unions and the Provincial Elderly Association. Currently, 20/20 districts, cities and towns in our province have Elderly Representative Boards; 100% of communes and wards in the province have established Elderly Associations and over 99% of hamlets, villages and blocks have branches.
The cadres and members of the Association of the Elderly have united and effectively carried out emulation movements launched by the Association such as: "The older the age, the higher the ambition, setting a good example for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland"; "The older the age, the better the spirit, setting a good example for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland"; "The older the age, the better the example"; the movement of doing many good deeds by village elders and village chiefs in mountainous areas; Each elderly person plants a tree, each Association organization plants a row of trees, a hill of trees; the movement of one million warm clothes given to poor elderly people... The elderly also actively participate in local social activities such as taking the lead in hunger eradication and poverty reduction, economic development, building cultural families, cultural lifestyles, actively participating in building a strong Party and Government; participating in preventing social evils, corruption, and waste; building families, clans, encouraging learning... Many members of the Elderly Association are active members, participating as Party cell secretaries, hamlet chiefs, village elders, village chiefs, residential group leaders, union officials... Through these activities, the elderly have contributed to propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws to the people.
In the context of increasingly developing economy, the care and attention of children, families and society towards the elderly is increasingly thoughtful and meaningful, both materially and spiritually, so that the elderly can improve their health, be happy mentally and enjoy a peaceful old age.
However, there are still some cases where children are not filial, even mistreat their parents and grandparents, do not take good care of the elderly, or there are cases where the elderly have enough material things but lack the affection of their relatives. In particular, the trend of population aging is also posing many new challenges, requiring the attention of party committees, authorities, organizations, especially the Association and each family, to create the best conditions to promote the endogenous strength of the elderly, so that the elderly can continue to contribute their mind, heart and strength to their families and to society, contribute ideas and efforts to the cause of building and protecting the country, so that the elderly can live happily, healthily and usefully.
Associations at all levels need to promote and organize emulation movements for the elderly; promptly honor good people, good deeds, and set good examples for the elderly in social life. The Association must truly be a bridge, effectively advising the Party Committee, the government, and the Fatherland Front on issues related to the rights and interests of the elderly. Strengthen propaganda work so that the community can effectively implement the Law on the Elderly, contributing to taking care of the elderly's lives better and better.
