In 1998, he was elected as the head of hamlet 5, one of the poorest hamlets in the commune (in 2000, the poverty rate was 60%), with difficult traffic conditions, and people's income mainly comes from 2 rice crops and tea gardens.

Mr. Trung transported "Gay Tea" for sale.

To open a way out of poverty for the villagers, he mobilized the villagers to contribute money to build village roads for trade and economic development. Cao Son has long been famous for its Gay tea specialty because of its special, delicious flavor. However, the tea tree has not yet become the main crop to help the villagers escape poverty, because the consumption market is still too limited, and the price is often forced down. In 2007, Trung discussed with his wife to borrow money to buy a truck to transport tea for consumption. At that time, sometimes he and his father had to carry the whole trip back in disappointment. But with the determination of Uncle Ho's soldiers, Trung still persevered and determined to bring Gay tea to all regions in and outside the province to introduce it. After a while, Gay tea became known in many places, and the number of orders coming to him increased day by day. Currently, his family has bought 3 trucks and hired 7 workers to buy tea from the people every day. On average, he makes 3 trips to different places of consumption every day, earning hundreds of millions of dong each year.

Since Mr. Trung bought tea, Cao Son people's Gay tea products have not been forced to lower prices by traders. People in Hamlet 5 and Cao Son Commune have been excited to invest in developing tea growing areas. Since then, many households have escaped poverty, the poverty rate according to the old criteria in 2010 in Hamlet 5 is only 16%. Many households have high income from tea (from 60-70 million VND/year) such as Mr. Cao Xuan Tho and Nguyen Duy Lien. Mr. Trung confided: "I am planning to go to Hanoi in the near future to organize a sales point and introduce Cao Son Gay tea products."

Mr. Nguyen Van Trung has become a close friend of tea growers in Cao Son, a bridge to bring the hometown Gay tea brand closer to consumers across the country. Since then, for many years he has had the honor to participate in reporting on typical examples of good economic veterans at the provincial level.
