Woman falls after divorce from rich husband
After a few "winged" words from the wanted man, Thoa agreed to receive the package containing drugs and was sentenced to death.
One of the two people standing in the dock at the first instance trial of the "illegal drug trafficking" case opened at the Hanoi People's Court in late December 2017 was a tall, slender woman named Bo Thi Kim Thoa, 27 years old. The female defendant has attractive long eyelashes, shoulder-length hair, a delicate face with pale skin.
The verdict stated that at the end of March 2017, after a phone call from Hong Kong from a man she knew, Thoa agreed to sign for a package containing drugs. A few days later, a strange young man brought 10 million VND to Thoa’s house. Both parties understood that this was the advance payment Thoa had received.

Thoa then received a call from Vu Ngoc Hoang (24 years old, from the same hometown) and the two drove to Hanoi to receive the gift package. At the meeting point, Hoang investigated the situation before letting Thoa sign for the package. When Thoa turned around and was about to put the package in the car that Hoang was waiting to drive, the police checked and discovered more than 7kg of drugs inside. Taking advantage of the police's negligence, she fled, leaving behind the drugs and her accomplice.
Before the jury, Thoa stated that she was divorced and had a child. The first-instance court's questioning that day made it clear that before her fall, Thoa had a wealthy life with her husband's family "having food and property". However, the beautiful woman's marriage quickly fell apart.
Thoa admitted that after the divorce, she was depressed and made friends with many people, especially men. The man who called from Hong Kong to hire her to deliver the drug package was also one of those friends. He was wanted and had to hide in Hong Kong. When she received the call, Thoa hesitated, but after hearing the compliments, she agreed.
Thoa said that when she escaped, she took a taxi to Hung Yen, borrowed the driver's phone to call her mother-in-law and her ex-husband, and stopped in Gia Lam district (Hanoi). Thoa claimed that she was being held for debt, so her ex-husband drove up to pick her up. When he tried to take his ex-wife back to his home in Hung Yen, Thoa asked to hide elsewhere. She was taken to Hai Phong and was arrested when she continued to Hai Duong alone.
During the interrogation, Thoa said that when the police checked the package, she did not know that it contained drugs. However, when the court announced the contents of the text messages and phone calls between Thoa and the man abroad, the defendant bowed her head, embarrassed. Meanwhile, her accomplice Hoang said that both of them knew that the package contained drugs before they went to receive it. The male defendant also said that Thoa had agreed to find a buyer for the drugs in Vietnam.
The panel of judges determined that the actions of the two defendants were especially serious, and the amount of drugs was especially large, so they sentenced both Thoa and Hoang to death.
