Nghe An people wrap banh chung to support flood victims in the North
These days, the northern provinces are experiencing the third historic storm, causing serious damage to life and property. In the spirit of mutual love and support, the people of Thanh Chuong district (Nghe An) have organized donations of necessities, wrapped and cooked banh chung... to give to flood victims.
This afternoon (September 10), responding to the call of the Hamlet Front Working Committee, people of Minh Tan Hamlet, Vo Liet Commune (Thanh Chuong) gathered at the hamlet cultural house, donated food, dong leaves, sticky rice..., organized wrapping and cooking banh chung to give to people in flood-hit areas in the northern provinces.

Despite the heavy rain, everyone was enthusiastic. People were cutting banana leaves, dong leaves, rolling sticky rice, splitting bamboo… and soon the cultural house became a bustling place for wrapping banh chung. After only a few hours, hundreds of banh chung were wrapped.
Many large pots borrowed from local people were gathered in the yard of the village cultural house. The cake cooking will take place tonight.
When hearing the call from the Hamlet Command, everyone in the hamlet enthusiastically responded, voluntarily donating materials as well as joining hands to wrap and cook banh chung to send to people in flooded areas. “Tonight, everyone in the hamlet will stay up all night to cook banh chung. It is raining heavily, so setting up the stove and lighting the fire to cook banh chung will be a bit difficult.”

In Vo Liet commune, not only Minh Tan hamlet but also other hamlets such as Minh Duc, Ha Luong… this afternoon, people are also organizing donations, wrapping and cooking banh chung.
The small cakes encapsulate the hearts of everyone who is reaching out to the people in the flooded areas. The image of pots of banh chung and banh tet cooked on a wood stove, flickering brightly in the rainy night, not only shows the spirit of solidarity and friendliness but also lights up the flame of love of the people of Nghe An towards their compatriots in the North.

Loudspeakers in hamlets are broadcasting, calling on people to reduce their daily expenses, and join hands to support our compatriots in the North with little or no money. Since noon today, people have been donating rice, instant noodles, cash, necessities, etc. The spirit of solidarity and sharing is spreading throughout hamlets and villages.
In recent years, whenever people in and outside the province experience natural disasters or floods, Thanh Chuong people organize to wrap Chung cakes to give away.
Recalling the historic flood in 2020, people in Thanh Chuong communes also wrapped and cooked banh chung, organized many car trips to transport banh chung, food, and provisions to give to people in flooded areas in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri...

Thanh Chuong district residents have been flooded many times, so everyone understands and feels the hardships of people in flooded areas. Today, through TV and social networks, seeing people in the North submerged in floodwaters, everyone is moved, so the people in the village immediately organized to wrap cakes to give away.

Currently, local people are struggling with how to preserve and transport banh chung to be given away in a timely manner, to reach people in flooded areas as quickly as possible, and to avoid the cakes from being damaged.
Not only organizing the wrapping and cooking of cakes, people in the mountainous communes of Hanh Lam and Thanh Duc (Thanh Chuong) also cut dong leaves and banana leaves to send to Vinh city to wrap cakes. People in communes in Thanh Chuong district are also urgently organizing donation activities to support flood victims in the North.

For the people of Thanh Chuong town, right during storm number 3, the town's government and organizations decided to postpone the Mid-Autumn Festival for children at the district stadium to save funds to support people in the flood-hit areas of the North.
Each locality has its own way of doing things, the tradition of mutual love and support, "When one horse is in pain, the whole stable stops eating grass" of the nation is being lit up more than ever, which will contribute to encouraging and supporting the people in the flood-hit areas of the North to overcome difficulties and hardships./.
