Nghe An people buy items to prevent incidents during the rainy and stormy season
Nghe An is entering the peak of the rainy and stormy season. Local people have proactively equipped themselves with a number of items to prevent incidents caused by natural disasters.

In recent days, household electrical stores in Dai Dong commune, Thanh Chuong district have been crowded with people buying rechargeable lamps, flashlights, and headlamps. Mr. Nguyen Duy Hoa, a store owner, said: “In rural areas, storms often cause sudden power outages. Therefore, rechargeable lamps and flashlights are very necessary. Every year, at the beginning of the rainy season, a large number of rechargeable products are imported: LED lamps, flashlights, etc. to meet people's needs, peaking from September onwards, when the rainy season is intense.”

According to a survey, there are currently many different rechargeable lamps on the market, with prices ranging from 50,000 - 500,000 VND/piece. Products are from Vietnam, Thailand, Japan... The usage time after a full charge is up to 6-7 hours.
“This rainy season, I bought 4 rechargeable light bulbs to equip in the rooms, serving the family's daily activities during power outages due to storms,” said Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh, a resident of Dai Dong commune (Thanh Chuong).
Nowadays, the demand for rechargeable lamps is high, so stores have to continuously import goods. In addition, products such as flashlights, headlamps, rechargeable fans, batteries, backup batteries, etc. are also purchased by many people.

Ms. Dau Quynh Anh, an employee at Dien May Xanh store in Do Luong town (Do Luong district) said: “During storms, the demand for using phones, tablets, etc. is very high. To update weather information and to keep in touch, many people look to buy backup batteries. The peak has been in the past few days, at our store, the number of buyers has increased by 50% compared to normal.”
For aquaculture households in coastal areas, maintaining a regular power supply is extremely necessary. Just being negligent, lacking careful preparation, if the power supply is interrupted, it will cause huge damage.

Mr. Hoang Van Tin, a shrimp farmer in Quynh Bang (Quynh Luu) said: “We must maintain aeration 24/7 during heavy rains to prevent water stratification, ensure the pond environment, and prevent water shock for shrimp. Therefore, during the rainy season, we must check the operation of the generator, and if it is broken, we must repair or replace it. I have now purchased an additional generator to ensure smooth operation.”
Currently, most farms raise chickens in cold barns, so maintaining the correct temperature is essential. If there is a prolonged power outage, high density, and closed barns, chickens will die en masse.

Therefore, all livestock farms must be equipped with generators; prepare gasoline, diesel oil, and buy more batteries for use. Therefore, before entering the rainy season, the market for this item is quite active.
During the rainy season, people buy high-strength cables, turnbuckles, parachute cords, ropes, etc. to secure houses, tie down cages, boats, and trees. Therefore, these types of ropes also sell quite well. The price of these ropes usually ranges from 10,000 to 30,000 VND/m depending on the material and durability.
With 44 cages and dozens of tons of fish in the cages, that is a great asset of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hue (Nghi Quang commune, Nghi Loc district). Therefore, before the rainy season, Mr. Hue always carefully prepares to cross and reinforce the cages.

“Heavy rain, strong wind, high water, strong currents, strong water force, so if not tied tightly, the raft will be washed away by the waves, the cage will drift, causing great damage. Therefore, it must be reinforced carefully with turnbuckles and cables. The cost of reinforcing turnbuckles alone during each storm season is also millions of dong,” said Mr. Hue.
From now until the end of the year is the peak of the storm and flood season, so people need to be proactive in prevention and response. The act of tying down and reinforcing houses, trees, barns, cages, boats, etc. is very important in protecting property; at the same time, equipping rechargeable lamps and generators to ensure daily life and livestock production is also very necessary. However, when using these devices, people also need to understand the operating principles and how to use them to ensure safety and prevent fires and explosions.
