Man buys more than 6 kg of drugs to… use gradually
(Baonghean.vn) - Buying more than 6 kg of drugs for a large amount of money, but on the day of his trial, Nguyen Viet Hung did not admit to the crime but stated that he bought a large quantity of drugs to... use gradually.
On May 28, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of Nguyen Viet Hung (born 1985), residing in Dong Vinh Ward, Vinh City, for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
According to the investigation agency's documents, in 2014, while on a trip to Quang Binh, Hung happened to meet a Laotian man named Vu. During the conversation, the Laotian said he had drugs and if Hung knew anyone who was buying "the goods", he should contact him.

On July 17, 2018, Vu made an appointment with Hung to go to Huong Son district (Ha Tinh province) to discuss drug trading. When they met, Vu said he would transfer 5-7 kg of drugs, each kg costing 200 million VND. Vu told Hung to try to prepare some money to get the drugs, and to pay the rest on credit.
On July 21, 2018, Vu continued to call Hung and asked if he wanted to take the drugs. Hung replied yes, so the two sides negotiated the delivery and receipt of the goods. After that, the Laotian man sent the “goods” via a bus running the Huong Son – Vinh City route.
That same afternoon, when Hung was receiving drugs at a bus stop in Vinh City, he was arrested by the authorities. The seized evidence was a carton containing 6 white plastic packages weighing 5,499 grams of drugs (methamphetamine) and 1 package of drugs weighing 993 grams of drugs (ketamine).
At the trial, the defendant stated that he used drugs but was not addicted. Nguyen Viet Hung did not admit to the crime as charged in the indictment. The defendant stated that he bought the drugs for more than 1.2 billion VND to use gradually.
After the questioning process, the panel decided to return the case file for further investigation.
